The Young and the Restless spoilers tease that Lily (Christel Khalil) is in for some tough times ahead. Since the horrible accident that took the life of Hilary (Mishael Morgan) and her unborn baby, Lily has been overwhelmed with guilt and grief. It was a tragic accident that no one could have predicted, but the fact remains that Lily was driving and ran a red light.
From the moment she found out that she ran the red light and caused the accident, Lily sought Devon’s (Bryton James) forgiveness. She was almost singly focused on seeking his forgiveness and wasn’t fully processing her own feelings of grief and loss. Then her attention turned to her sentencing and she spent a considerable amount of time focused on how much time she could possibly get for her actions.
But now the things that preoccupied Lily are resolved. Devon forgave her, and she made it through the sentencing phase with a reasonably good outcome, given what she could have faced if the judge had imposed the maximum sentence. Now all Lily has to do is sit in a prison cell…and think about what she did.
Perhaps Lily thought that getting forgiveness from Devon and a relatively light sentence would lighten her burden, and those things surely did. But now Lily will have to confront her own feelings about the terrible incident that put her in prison. Her actions took two people’s lives, and she will have enormous and on-going feelings of guilt about that.
She’ll also have to deal with the loss of her family for 12 months. Lily’s a hands-on mom and is used to being active and present in her kids’ lives. But now she’s been ripped apart from them. She’ll need to cope with that loss, too. She might face depression or even a total breakdown from the strain.
Hopefully, Lily can get some counseling while she’s in prison to deal with her feelings that will surely come as she serves out her sentence. Do you think Lily will be ok?
