The Young and the Restless Spoilers: Nick Desperately Embraces Sharon – Phyllis' Insecurity Grows

The Young and the Restless spoilers tease that Phyllis (Gina Tognoni) will again see that Nick’s (Joshua Morrow) emotional link to Sharon (Sharon Case) remains unbroken. Nikki’s (Melody Thomas Scott) accident will reveal vulnerabilities and the potential for eventual couple’s revivals.

Nick and Sharon have often comforted each other during past instances of Newman drama. Phyllis was aware of the Shick connection, but believed that the failure to get remarried in October meant that Nick had moved on. He did, but his love for Sharon endures.

Being number two to Sharon isn’t the only secondary spot that Phyllis occupies in modern day Genoa City. As longtime Y&R viewers recall, Michelle Stafford’s edition of Red pushed Sharon out of Nick’s world oh so many years ago.

The Cassie (Camryn Grimes) Dies arc, clearly ranking with the most controversial storylines in show history, served to sever Shick’s marital tie. That creative choice created a mistake that’s never been fully addressed.

As happened in the past and most recently in the fall of 2014, a teased Shick remarriage didn’t happen. Sharon and Nick seem forever destined to only exist as a realized couple, married, with children in the 1990’s and through the mid-2000’s, but not since.

Phyllis appeared to again capitalize on Shick’s Achilles’ Heel, that being today’s Tognoni version of this character. Phick surprisingly reconnected this summer in Summer’s (Hunter King) condo, with that reveal being exposed by Sharon at Shick’s planned nuptial this fall.

So, for Phyllis to see Sharon and Nick embrace at Genoa City Memorial Hospital, due to Nikki’s fragile physical condition, doesn’t imply a Shick reboot is a bonus Christmas gift to their fans. Instead it indicates that Phick is a dysfunctional revival that won’t last.

But does that mean that Phyllis will rebound to Billy (Jason Thompson)? The vastly different consideration must consider Billy’s true love being Vickie (Amelia Heinle).

Many GC residents have taken notice to the chemistry that still exists between the once-Villy. Most of those individuals don’t know that Vickie needs Billy’s support for a reason that goes well beyond her mother’s serious health concerns.

The coverup crew’s legal peril is serious and getting worse. While that affects Vickie, it also impacts Phyllis. How Billy reacts to both women keeping him in the dark about J.T.’s (Thad Luckinbill) apparent death remains to be seen. But his deepest connection, when all is eventually revealed, will be Vickie. That could mean Billy will feel most betrayed by Vickie, or that he’ll feel compelled to defend her, due to their kids and his latent feelings for her.

As of now, Phyllis is right to feel insecure about Phick. Nick’s loyalties are split, if not tilted heavily in Sharon’s favor. Whether Billy becomes a fallback option is temporarily tied to Nikki’s coming recovery and the coverup crew’s legal plight.
