The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers tease that Jack (Peter Bergman) has a major blow headed his way. Despite Ashley’s (Eileen Davidson) best efforts to keep the news quiet, Jack will inevitably find out about the paternity shocker. He’ll have a hard time wrapping his head around the fact that he’s not John’s (Jerry Douglas) son.
Of course, many Y&R viewers are betting on a huge twist down the road. There are just too many things that don’t add up. For starters, Dina (Marla Adams) mistakes Jack for John constantly. If they aren’t related, then why does Dina think Jack looks so much like this father?
At the Stardust Inn, Dina mentioned another potential clue. She suggested that she sees the man she loved whenever she looks at Jack. We’ve established that Dina calls Jack by John’s name all the time. How can she see both John AND another man when she sees her son? It sure sounds like they’re the same person.
Perhaps Dina’s mind is distorting the information a bit. Her Alzheimer’s could be jumbling the past. Let’s consider another outcome that might come from this family crisis. There could be a different explanation for those stunning DNA test results.
Now that John’s gone, Jack is the patriarch of the Abbott clan. Suddenly changing his paternity seems wrong on so many levels. Jack needs to remain a biological Abbott and lead this family into the future. That’s especially true since Kyle (Michael Mealor) is affected by all of this. We’ll be losing two Abbotts if this storyline sticks.
So how can The Young and the Restless fix it? The answer may not be ideal, but it could be a little more tolerable than leaving the story as is. Abby (Melissa Ordway) decided to collect two hair samples for the test. She thought the best way to resolve all this was to compare Jack’s DNA with Traci’s (Beth Maitland).
However, there was a big flaw in that plan. Abby and Ashley were operating under the assumption that Traci’s a biological Abbott. What if that isn’t the case? They only proved that Jack’s DNA wasn’t a match for Traci’s. In other words, Traci could easily be the one who isn’t John’s son.
It’d be a shame for Y&R to alter Traci’s paternity now, but it might be better than changing Jack’s. Traci’s important, but at least she’s not the head of the family. Dina often forgets who Traci is, so maybe that’s why her mind made this all about her beloved “Jackie.” This could all be a massive misunderstanding.
Nevertheless, this revelation could certainly rock the Abbotts once again. Just how much can this poor fam take?! We’ll give you updates as other Young and the Restless details emerge.
