Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers tease that a prominent Salem figure will soon quit her job. District Attorney Melinda Trask (Laura Kai Chen) will suddenly resign from her position. Melinda is a hard-nosed DA with a reputation for being very aggressive and for using her position to make a good name for herself.
But Melinda has another agenda in the works. According to Days spoilers, she’d like to be the next mayor of Salem. And so she’ll quit her position as DA to focus full-time on her mayoral campaign. This will pit her directly against incumbent candidate Abe Carver (James Reynolds).
We’re probably looking at a long and heated campaign for the two mayoral candidates. Melinda will likely be an aggressive campaigner, so there may be some mud-slinging on her part. Abe’s generally one to run a clean campaign, but he may feel that he needs to fight back if Melinda starts throwing punches first.
And if Abe digs deep enough into Melinda’s life looking for ammunition to use against her, it’s likely that he’ll uncover the big secret that Melinda won’t want to be revealed: that her sister, Haley Chen (Thia Megia) is an undocumented immigrant.
This could be a huge bombshell if anyone found out that the former DA was aware of an undocumented immigrant in Salem and did nothing about it because she was family. It’s something that could totally derail Melinda’s dream of being Mayor.
In the coming days, Melinda will put even more pressure on Haley to keep her immigration status under wraps. But it will be difficult, given that JJ Deveraux (Casey Moss) is also pressuring Haley to come clean about what she’s been hiding. JJ fears that Haley is keeping a secret that is threatening her mental well-being, so he wants Haley to confide in him.
So it seems that Haley will have pressure coming at her from all directions. According to Days of Our Lives spoilers, she’ll finally break and confess her status to Marlena Evans (Deidre Hall) during a required therapy session. But of course, Marlena won’t be able to tell anyone about it due to doctor-patient confidentiality, so Haley’s secret will remain safe for now.
