General Hospital Spoilers: Rick Hearst Talks Possible Ric Lansing GH Return

General Hospital (GH) spoilers has some great news to pass on about a former GH star. Rick Hearst, who portrayed Ric Lansing on the ABC soap, will be appearing in an upcoming feature film titled “Full Count.” Rick recently spoke with Soap Opera News (SON) about the project, as well as about the possibility of him making a return as Ric Lansing to General Hospital.

First, let’s talk about Rick’s movie, Full Count. The movie is set to be released on October 25, 2019, and is a faith-based film written and directed by Robert Eagar. The movie is the story of a young man who is forced to give up his dream of playing professional baseball and the hardships he faces when he returns home, which include defending himself against a tragic crime that could send him to prison for life. The movie is said to be a “heart-warming story about perseverance, faith, triumph, and the struggle to never let go of a dream.”

Rick plays the role of “Deputy Jones” in the movie. Rick told SON that “The character is a very corrupt and deceptive cop. He’s southern so I got to use an accent that I have been trained for but never had the chance to use. I also put on weight for this role. People are going to be quite shocked.”

Rick also told SON that he enjoyed working with his co-stars and the film’s crew. “This is a faith-based film,” he said. “I like that it wasn’t heavy-handed. The message was there but it was also grounded. There is the human struggle that we all go through. And the movie’s message is how to rise above adversity regardless of how difficult and how intense it may be sometimes. I think that was illuminated very well. I’m very grateful to have been a part of it. And I’m excited for everyone to see it.”

Interestingly, one of Rick’s co-stars in Full Count is Natalie Livingston, who portrayed Emily Quartermaine on GH. Also starring in the film are John Paul Kakos, E. Roger Mitchell, and Jason London.

Now, what about a possible return to General Hospital for Rick? SON asked him about this specifically, and here’s what he had to say: “The door is wide open, and I have stated as such. The canvas has changed a lot, but I don’t think it has changed enough where there is no room for Ric Lansing. Ric is a legacy character.”

Rick continued: “I feel like it’s in their court as to whether or not there feel that the character of Ric Lansing and the actor of Rick Hearst is an attribute to their canvas or not. The fact that it has been this long makes me believe it’s not in their plans right now.”

It would be great to see Rick return to GH – we’ll keep our fingers crossed. But in the meantime, fans can catch Rick in Full Count very soon. Do you plan on seeing Rick’s new movie?
