General Hospital (GH) spoilers review for Wednesday, December 4, reveal that Brad Cooper (Parry Shen) woke up at GH with a concussion and bruised ribs while Lucas Jones (Ryan Carnes) survived surgery and remained in a medically induced coma. Bobbie Jones (Jacklyn Zeman) took Brad to see Lucas, and they happened upon the scene as Julian Jerome (William deVry) was asking an unconscious Lucas to forgive him. Brad wondered what needed forgiving, but Julian covered and left.
Meanwhile, Hamilton Finn (Michael Easton) lamented to Anna Devane (Finola Hughes) that he’ll have to tell Violet Barnes (Jophielle Love) that her mother is gone in the morning. As it turns out, Robert Scorpio (Tristan Rogers) was working to find Hayden Barnes (Rebecca Budig), and when the doorbell rang, Finn and Anna assumed it would be Robert. Turns out, it was Jasper “Jax” Jacks (Ingo Rademacher), who was looking for Hayden.
Finn immediately ripped into Jax, wondering what he had gotten Hayden into. Jax then learned that Hayden had skipped town and he was clearly concerned, but he covered and played innocent about what Hayden was involved in. Anna chimed in that they could help Hayden if she was in trouble, but Jax insisted that he knew nothing. After he left, both Anna and Finn thought that Jax was definitely hiding something.
Next, Nikolas Cassadine (Marcus Coloma) bribed an aide at Shadybrook to give Ava Jerome (Maura West) some orange pills, then he went in her room and talked with her while she was loopy from the drugs. Ava was stunned to see Nikolas again, and he told her that he’s in hell and she’s the reason he’s trapped. Ava believed him due to the drugs, and after telling her that she needed to make up her betrayal to him, he asked her where the portrait of Helena Cassadine (Constance Towers) was.
Ava, amidst lamenting about her tragic past, revealed that the portrait was in her gallery. Ava then went on about Kiki Jerome (Hayley Erin) and Nikolas cruelly told her that Kiki was in hell with him, but that he’d help Kiki since she revealed where the portrait was. He ended by telling a drowsy Ava to keep this between them and not to tell Valentin Cassadine (James Patrick Stuart) or anyone else about their chat. He then left, but didn’t realize that he had lost his Cassadine insignia ring underneath Ava’s bed.
Finally, Valentin enjoyed a drink with Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros) at The Metro Court. In the spirit of honesty, he told her about Jax and Laura Collins’ (Genie Francis) search for the portrait, and that it contained a codicil that could disinherit him. Just then, Jax burst in and threw Valentin up against the wall, accusing him of chasing Hayden out of town. Valentin then revealed that he knew Jax was working with Hayden to deny him his inheritance.
Afterwards, Jax called Nikolas to arrange a meeting to discuss Hayden, while Valentin told Nina privately that he was going to Ava’s gallery to look for the portrait. After Valentin left, Nina then called Shadybrook to see if Ava could take a visitor. It will be interesting to see what angle Nina takes in this whole situation – will she end up standing by Valentin’s side, or will she use what she learns from Ava to help the others who are after the portrait strip Valentin of his Cassadine assets?
