The Young and the Restless Spoilers: Adam Newman Secret Villain In The J.T. Story?

The Young and the Restless spoilers tease that an incredible shock is projected. Adam Newman (as most recently played by Justin Hartley) is revealed as the Newman family’s tormentor! That would mean this character is alive, while also oddly being written as the hidden villain within the J.T. (Thad Luckinbill) storyline.

Adam learned where J.T.’s body was buried and moved it. He planted Victor’s (Eric Braeden) gun in the stables and then burned them down in order to frame the Moustache. Both before and since he’s been haunting Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott), who remains at her wit’s end.

Wait just one soapy minute! Adam was last shown on good terms with Victor, who was helping him escape in late summer, 2016. Adam had no grudge against Nikki at the time, or the other members of her coverup crew. And he barely knew J.T. back when the Adam character was played by Chris Engen and Michael Muhney in the late 2000’s, which was when Luckinbill’s initial cast run was ending.

Well, who’s to say how any human’s brain would be affected by the impact of a cabin explosion. Said boom wouldn’t obviously have killed this notorious man, but it surely would transform his view of reality.

Y&R would surely need to explain this scenario. But as it did, the depraved Adam, scheming through the damaged memory fog of old wounds, would work his black magic in daytime.

Adam’s diagnosed condition and other considerations would eventually excuse all crimes committed and be coupled with some wipe-away of 2016’s legal overhang, thereby allowing him to reclaim his life in Genoa City. One would expect Chelsea (Melissa Claire Egan) and Connor (as last played by Gunner and Ryder Gadbois) to return and revive Chadam’s family as well.

The reveal would be coupled with Hartley’s surprise, likely cameo reprisal, or a recast. Engen would be an unlikely choice in this regard.

Muhney remains a favorite among a passioned part of Y&R’s audience to play Adam again. He previously proved eligible for rehire, due to his interview as part of the mid-2014 recast, which led to Hartley’s hire. So, this option is possible, if a new actor isn’t chosen.

The entire J.T. Dies storyline has proven to be one of the longest and most complex in recent Y&R history. Included with that has been the inclusion of cast members who weren’t part of the story when it first began last spring. So why not have the coming climax to this arc involve the most electric and seemingly departed character in modern GC lore, Adam Newman? That surely would give the loyal and very patient audience a double shock.
