The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers tease that some hot drama’s coming up for Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor). Y&R fans know Kyle’s married to Lola Abbott (Sasha Calle), but Summer Newman (Hunter King) is still an important part of his life. We’ve also got Theo Vanderway (Tyler Johnson) around to cause trouble, so Kyle will have to put out a few more fires along the way.
Mealor recently stopped by the KCAL9 studio for an interview, which included some fun behind-the-scenes tidbits. He dished on an important costar, reflected on his previous roles and offered some hints about what’s to come in his storyline. The Young and the Restless spoilers say Mealor’s second anniversary with the show is coming up in March 2020, but he admitted he still feels like the new kid on the block.
“Even though I’m about to hit two years, I’ve been there for a while now…it still feels like I’m the rookie,” Mealor said. He talked about how he always has more to learn – and often gets the chance thanks to his TV dad, Peter Bergman. “He still has something to teach me every single day,” Mealor confessed. “He’s truly become my onset dad. It’s amazing.”
Some Young and the Restless viewers may not know that Mealor’s from Georgia. He’s missing any kind of twang in his voice, so the interviewer questioned him about it. Mealor revealed that he sought help from a speech therapist to retrain the muscles in his throat. He didn’t want to have something else to worry about besides his acting, so he got rid of his southern drawl – though he admitted it still comes through when he’s tired or with his real-life dad.
Mealor also discussed being typecast as the “frat guy” before he scored the role of Kyle. He joked about stepping up from that thanks to Y&R. Of course, Mealor had to give everyone a couple clues about what’s next for Kyle and Lola. He mentioned Kyle’s marriage, but he hinted that Summer could bring some conflict.
“He’s married now, but that also stirs the pot a bit because there’s Summer Newman, who’s always kind of been my Romeo and Juliet on the show,” Mealor said. “She kind of misses Kyle, so it turns into a love triangle naturally and drama ensues.”
The Young and the Restless spoilers say Lola and Kyle will have to fight for love in the weeks ahead. Summer could end up fighting too, so don’t miss the battle over Kyle’s heart!
