The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers for Monday, September 30, tease that we’ll see some fantastic work from Eric Braeden (Victor Newman) and Mark Grossman (Adam Newman). A father-son faceoff is coming up that’ll go to an extremely emotional place. Adam’s dark issues will be explored along with the complex relationship he has with his father.
Y&R fans definitely won’t want to miss these intense scenes. Fortunately, The Young and the Restless released an exclusive sneak peek that offers a taste of the action. In the clip, Victor wants to know how long Adam has known he’s alive. Adam admits it hasn’t been long before Victor grills him about how he found out. Since that doesn’t really matter at this point, Adam declines to disclose his source.
However, Adam does confess he came to see Victor for two reasons. He wanted to see Victor in the flesh once again – perhaps just to confirm with his own eyes that his dad indeed survived. Adam also notes that he’s leaving town permanently and reveals that he made the decision before he heard the good news.
Of course, Victor wonders if Adam’s really all that thrilled. He brings up the medication tampering and tries to figure out where Adam’s heart was at. Victor asks, “Was the thought of having killed your father too much or were you planning to kill me?” It’s a powerful moment that’ll kick off some even deeper drama between these two. The Newman men are a lot alike at their core.
This conversation should show Victor the pain his son’s dealing with. Adam has done some rotten things, but he’s not all bad. He’s just a messed-up individual who’s lost his way. After all, Y&R viewers will recall how the character was written back when Justin Hartley portrayed the role. He was a softer Adam with more layers, but Y&R finally seems to be peeling back those layers once again.
Victor doesn’t want to give up on his son, but he’ll certainly face some resistance from the rest of the family. Most of the Newmans just won’t see Adam as someone who can change. That’s especially true for Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow), who hates his brother with a passion and will do anything to take him down.
The Young and the Restless spoilers state that Adam may find his place within the Newman clan down the road, but it’s safe to say he’ll always be the black sheep in some ways.
