Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers tease that with Tripp Dalton (Lucas Adams) back in town, Steve Johnson (Stephen Nichols) and Kayla Brady (Mary Beth Evans) may have remarriage on their minds soon. Kayla and Steve never should’ve gotten divorced in the first place since their issues were over what Steve did under mind control.
Steve initially pulled back because he was so horrified by what he did as “Stefano DiMera,” but it wasn’t Steve’s fault he had a microchip implanted with Stefan’s memories.
After Steve finally realized he couldn’t deny his love for Kayla, it still took some time for these two to come back together. Thankfully, it all worked out once Justin Kiriakis (Wally Kurth) stopped his wedding to Kayla and set her free.
It wasn’t wise to jump from nuptials to nuptials, so it’s good that Steve and Kayla didn’t rush right into remarrying. They needed time to find their groove again and let Justin’s heart heal, too. Of course, Justin’s starting to develop feelings for Bonnie Lockhart (Judi Evans), so he’s moving on just fine.
Based on how Kayla and Steve interact, they behave just like the solid married couple they were before. It didn’t take Steve and Kayla long to get their relationship back on track, so the next step may be just around the corner.
Since this is far from Kayla and Steve’s first wedding rodeo, they might opt for a quick and lowkey ceremony. Steve and Kayla would probably just want something simple in front of their closest loved ones. This would just be about recommitting to each other and making their marriage official once again.
If Stephanie Johnson (Shelley Henning) could come back for this small event, that’d be great. If not, at least Steve’s son could be there to cheer “Stayla” on. Tripp supports Steve and Kayla’s relationship, so he’d happily serve as Steve’s best man – and incarcerated Joey Johnson (James Lastovic) would be with them in spirit.
However, the real point of all this might be setting the stage for a major return. DOOL fans have probably heard by now that Ava Vitali (Tamara Braun) is headed back to Days of Our Lives.
Ava is the scheming mob heiress who was obsessed with Steve – and she also happens to be Tripp’s mother. Although Ava was believed to be dead after Joey strangled her, she’ll be returning alive and well.
Naturally, Days will want to let Ava make grand reentrance. No one ever calls ahead with a warning in Salem, especially not someone who’s presumed dead. Ava’s just going to reappear out of the blue, so where will she show up?
Kayla and Steve’s wedding seems like an exciting option. It’d be the perfect place for Ava’s back-from-the-dead bomb to drop!
