Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers tease that Rafe Hernandez (Galen Gering) has a big battle ahead of him. As DOOL viewers know, Rafe wants more than anything to adopt David Ridgeway (Kyler Ends), but he’s got some major hurdles in the way. Rafe got rid of a major obstacle when David’s father Evan Frears aka Christian Maddox (Brock Kelly) was put away for murdering Jordan Ridgeway (Chrishell Stause). But it looks like Evan’s sister Zoey Burge (Alyshia Osche) is going to continue to stand in Rafe’s way.
Of course, Zoey recently turned on Rafe and held him and Hope Brady (Kristian Alfonso) at gunpoint, but this all seemed to happen because of a terrible position that Zoey found herself in.
As Zoey explained to Hope and Rafe, Orpheus (George DelHoyo) kidnapped her son and was threatening to keep her from him unless she helped him. At any rate, it looks like despite Zoey’s actions, she’s still going to try to get custody of David from Rafe going forward.
That will put Rafe back at square one, since it looks like he’s going to end up going against Zoey for custody of David. And assuming that a judge understands that she was acting under duress when she held Rafe and Hope at gunpoint, it probably won’t be held against her in family court.
That means that Rafe will be going against David’s aunt for custody, and that could really be an uphill battle for Rafe.
Well, according to Days of Our Lives spoilers, Rafe will get some help in his custody fight for David. Hope will step up and go to bat for Rafe, which will be a huge gesture on her part.
As DOOL viewers will remember, part of the reason that Hope and Rafe broke up in the first place was over Rafe wanting to bring David into their relationship. There were certainly other factors that broke up Hope and Rafe, too, but David was definitely a part of that picture.
In fact, Hope pretty well distanced herself from Rafe and David during and after their split, and then of course she became Princess Gina Von Amberg (Kristian Alfonso) which really took her out of Rafe and David’s orbit.
But now, it seems that Hope will see just how devoted Rafe is to David, and she’ll want to help him out in whatever way she can.
We’ll see exactly how Hope helps Rafe, but it’s likely that she’ll testy for him at the custody hearing. After all, she knows Rafe very well and she can attest to the kind of man he is and how much he loves David.
Still, it’s going to tough for Rafe to win against Zoey, who’s next-of-kin to David. But perhaps with Hope’s testimony on his side, he’ll have a fighting chance.
