Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers recap for Monday, October 12, reveal that Jack Deveraux (Matthew Ashford) and Jennifer Deveraux (Melissa Reeves) sat in the DiMera mansion, gushing over Abigail DiMera’s (Marci Miller) big story in the Spectator about Kristen DiMera (Stacy Haiduk).
Soon, Gwen Rizczech (Emily O’Brien) walked in and noted that she could relate to a good revenge story.
Jack and Jennifer tried to engage with Gwen, but it was awkward, as Gwen rambled on about how Jake Lambert (Brandon Barash) had cheated on her and dumped her for Gabi DiMera (Camila Banus).
Through their conversation, Gwen learned that Jennifer was in a coma for a year, and that Jack and Abigail were with her every step of the way. Gwen noted that not everyone was so lucky.
Meanwhile, upstairs, Abigail and Chad DiMera (Billy Flynn) woke up and before long, Abigail mentioned that Jake could use a break. Chad got upset, and he and Abigail bickered about Jake.
Chad admitted that it was difficult for him to see Jake’s face, because he was reminded of Stefan DiMera (Brandon Barash) and what it was like to walk in on Stefan and Abigail after they had slept together.
Ultimately, Chad and Abigail determined that no one was ever going to come between them again. Soon, they went downstairs to see Jack, Jennifer, and Gwen. Jack and Jennifer gushed over Abigail’s story, as Gwen looked on jealously.
Later, Abigail and Gwen talked alone, and Gwen indicated that her own childhood had been difficult, with parents who got divorced.
Abigail went on about how blessed she was to have her family, and again the topic of Jennifer’s year-long coma came up. Abigail mentioned JJ Deveraux (Casey Moss) and how all their prayers were answered when Jennifer woke up.
Abigail said that in two weeks it will be the anniversary when Jennifer woke up. Gwen sad that she had an idea of how to celebrate.
In Jake’s workshop, Kate DiMera (Lauren Koslow) arrived. Kate and Jake bantered for a bit, and soon, Kate asked Jake to take a look at her car, which was having trouble. As it turned out, Kate’s car needed to be towed to a shop, so Kate decided to wait with Jake.
The topic of Chad shutting Jake out of DiMera business came up, and Kate explained that Chad sees Stefan when he looks at Jake. Kate told Jake about how Chad walked in on Stefan and Abigail together, and Jake was stunned.
Kate quizzed Jake about his love life with Gwen, and Jake said that they should talk about Kate’s love life instead.
Kate admitted that she had been in love with Stefano DiMera (Joseph Mascolo), and that although their marriage started as a business arrangement, it grew into a strong love. Jake then told Kate that he wasn’t unhappy seeing Kate in her robe the other day, and Kate got a little flustered. Chad then showed up, asking if he was interrupting something.
At the Salem Inn, Brady Black (Eric Martsolf) and Kristen were trying to stay positive about the hearing later, when Melinda Trask (Tina Huang) showed up with pastries – Kristen’s “last meal” as a free woman.
Melinda gloated about how Kristen was going down, and she told Kristen to kiss her daughter goodbye – something she didn’t get the chance to do with Haley Chen (Thia Megia).
After Melinda took off, Kristen told Brady that she asked Marlena Evans (Deidre Hall) to take care of Rachel Black in the event that she goes to prison. Brady assured Kristen that she’d be acquitted, since Melinda didn’t have solid evidence against her. Soon, Brady took Rachel to Marlena’s for the day, and Kristen cried.
Over at Eli Grant (Lamon Archey) and Lani Price-Grant’s (Sal Stowers) place, Eli had a nightmare about Lani finding the recording that he made of Kristen’s confession. Lani woke him up and handed him the phone – Melinda was calling. Eli told Melinda that he couldn’t talk right now, and he hung up.
Eli then tried to talk Lani out of going to Kristen’s hearing, but Lani insisted, making Eli feel guilty by telling him he’s the best husband ever. After Lani took off, Eli called Melinda back.
Melinda demanded the confession that Eli got from Kristen, and Eli demanded a signed agreement saying that Melinda wouldn’t go after Lani. Melinda agreed, and Eli mulled over his dilemma.
In town square, Jack and Jennifer ran into Brady and Rachel on their way to Marlena’s place. Jennifer told Brady to tell Kristen that she’s praying for her today. Brady shared that Melinda had just been to see Kristen, and Jack wondered what Melinda would try to pull in court.
At the police station, Melinda was in the interrogation when someone walked in. Melinda was expecting Eli, but it was Lani there to talk with Melinda.
At the Salem Inn, Kristen was about to leave for the hearing when Eli showed up at her door. “What do you want?” Kristen said. “I need to talk to you about this,” Eli said, holding up his phone. “I recorded our conversation yesterday and have your full confession right here.” Kristen was aghast.
