Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers reveal that fans are still in the dark on who was behind Abigail DiMera’s (Marci Miller) drugging. Who caused Abigail’s hallucinations and led to all her current struggles? Let’s consider what we know so far and try to narrow it down to the top suspects.
After Abigail was given a DiMera drug that hadn’t been released publicly, the chemistry of her brain was altered. That DiMera angle was played up heavily before Gabi Hernandez DiMera (Camila Banus) was exonerated.
Once Gabi was in the clear, Chad DiMera (Billy Flynn) was forced to consider why he wanted so badly for Gabi to be guilty. He gazed at Stefano DiMera’s (Joseph Mascolo) portrait and worried that his own father may have been behind this. Chad seemed to think someone may have been acting on Stefano’s orders.
There’s been some speculation that Eve Donovan (Kassie DePaiva) may have been the one who drugged Abigail – and she’s certainly a wildcard character. Nobody can really predict what Eve will do, so she remains a possibility to consider.
Nevertheless, we can’t ignore the fact that Abigail was the one person who was willing to step up and fight for Eve’s freedom. Abigail put all the bad blood aside to get Eve off the hook for Jennifer Deveraux’s (Melissa Reeves) attempted murder. Eve had nothing but gratitude in her heart the last time she saw Abigail, so it’d be weird for her to secretly destroy her life now.
There’s also that DiMera angle that Days has been working. Would Eve be following Stefano’s orders? Especially after Stefano worked with Princess Gina Von Amberg (Kristian Alfonso), who framed Eve and put her behind bars?
Of course, Eve may have experienced a mental break based on the latest Days of Our Lives spoilers. It’s pretty much a done deal that Eve’s the one holding Ben Weston (Robert Scott Wilson) captive, so as always – Eve’s capable of anything!
Even so, we should consider other options – like Gwen (Emily O’Brien). Days of Our Lives hasn’t really revealed that much about Gwen’s background or past. Why did Gwen even land in Salem anyway?
Gwen stole Jake Lambert’s (Brandon Barash) stuff and took off, but there’s been no real explanation for why Salem became her hideout. Gwen could’ve checked in any mental institution in any city, but she picked Bayview.
Since Gwen faked a breakdown, what else has been deceiving everyone about? It’s possible Gwen has more secrets than anyone realizes.
Since DOOL might be building toward a cheating storyline between Gwen and Chad, that’d be a soapy route to take. What if Chad cheats on Abigail with the very person who caused her problems?
If Gwen was secretly paid or promised something by a microchipped version of Stefano, she might’ve been willing to drug Abigail. That could easily set up Chad’s fury later.
However, it might be Chad himself who drugged his own wife – albeit unknowingly. We’ve heard eerie music and seen strange looks from Chad in moments when he’s praised as a good husband. It’d be hard for Abigail to process Chad being responsible for the drugging.
If there are still lingering effects from Stefano’s previous mind control, Chad may have moments where he doesn’t know what he’s doing. On a subconscious level, Chad might be battling some guilt – hence why he behaves so strangely around Jack Deveraux (Matthew Ashford) and acted almost guilty in front of Stefano’s portrait.
