General Hospital Spoilers: Friday, January 3 Recap - Nikolas Saves Ava, Bursts In On Wedding - Sam Devastated As Jason Leaves

General Hospital (GH) spoilers recap for Friday, January 3, reveal that Valentin Cassadine (James Patrick Stuart) was startled to see Charlotte Cassadine (Scarlett Fernandez) appear on the turret just moments after he pushed Ava Jerome (Maura West) into the icy water below.

Turns out, she and Lulu Spencer (Emme Rylan) had come to look at the moon. Valentin insisted that it was too cold outside and took then back inside, assuring Charlotte that nothing was going to go wrong tonight.

Meanwhile, in Nina Reeves’ (Cynthia Watros) room, Jasper “Jax” Jacks (Ingo Rademacher) tried to convince her not to bring her revenge plan against Valentin to fruition, as Charlotte would be collateral damage. Charlotte then came in and Jax left. Charlotte told Nina that she couldn’t wait for her to become her stepmother.

Downstairs, various guests milled about and conversed prior to the wedding. Maxie Jones (Kirsten Storms) and Peter August (Wes Ramsey) chatted with Liesl Obrecht (Kathleen Gati), who rambled about Nina hopefully choosing happiness.

Maxie then warned Valentin not to screw things up. And Laura Collins (Genie Francis) filled in Kevin Collins (Jon Lindstrom) about Charlotte’s statement concerning Nikolas Cassadine’s (Marcus Coloma) ring and how it just doesn’t make sense.

Laura also spoke with Lulu, who was upset about how Valentin is raising Charlotte. Laura told her that she needs to accept the way things are, so that Charlotte doesn’t end up resenting her. Finally, the wedding got underway, with Martin Grey (Michael E. Knight) officiating.

He started in, and then Valentin wanted to say a few words. Valentin went on about how he loves Charlotte and Nina, and then Nina spoke.

Nina said that love isn’t fairy-tale perfect, that there are ups and downs, but no one has made her happier than he does. She then said, “no more secrets, right?” Valentin agreed, and Nina seemed sadly resigned.

Martin stepped back in and Valentin agreed to all his vows, then as Nina to ready to say hers, Nikolas burst in the door with Ava in his arms. Valentin was horrified, and Laura was absolutely stunned.

Meanwhile, at the Metro Court, Harrison Chase (Josh Swickard) and Willow Tait (Katelyn MacMullen) enjoyed each other in a guest room, as they declared their love and hoped that 2020 would be a great year.

Downstairs in the restaurant, Michael Corinthos (Chad Duell) and Sasha Gilmore (Sofia Mattsson) chatted, as Michael worried about possible Quartermaine infighting coming in the new year.

Later, Chase and Willow joined Michael and Sasha, and the four had a nice celebration together. Michael and Sasha noted that the lies are behind them, and Michael remarked that both sides of his family are serious liars, but love keeps them all together.

Across the restaurant, Brook Lynn Ashton (Amanda Setton) and Ned Quartermaine (Wally Kurth) got some feedback from Diane Miller (Carolyn Hennesy) about Brook Lynn’s recording contract.

Diane noted that the contract was solid, and that Brook Lynn owed her producer three albums. She suggested they try to buy Brook Lynn’s way out of the contract.

After Diane left, Olivia Quartermaine (Lisa LoCicero) arrived, and Brook Lynn asked her father for a buyout, but Ned refused, even when Brook Lynn revealed that her producer had made inappropriate advances on her. She pled with Ned, but he still refused.

Finally, at Sam McCall’s (Kelly Monaco) place, she explained to Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) that the parole officer said that she had to stay away from him. Jason said that this wasn’t Sam’s fault, and that obviously the officer was gunning for him.

Later, Diane arrived and pointed out that the parole officer was within her rights by insisting that Sam couldn’t have contact with someone who was a felon, which Jason is.

Diane warned against trying to sneak around with Jason, since Sam could end up back in jail. She said that the best option was to get Damian Spinelli (Bradford Anderson) involved and deal with the problem quietly and behind the scenes.

Jason told Sam that she had to play by the officer’s rules for now and let her think she’s winning. Sam was upset, but Jason said they needed to follow the law because she can’t risk go back to prison.
