General Hospital (GH) spoilers tease that Maxie Jones (Kirsten Storms) and Peter August (Wes Ramsey) will get some exciting news during the week of December 21-25. Peter and Maxie will find out their baby’s gender, so what’s it going to be? Will “Paxie” learn they’re having an adorable little girl or a bouncing baby boy?
Since General Hospital spoilers don’t confirm which gender just yet, this could still go either way. However, there are some good reasons to think Maxie might have a girl. For starters, Maxie’s last child was a boy. That’s James West (Curtis and Owen Rufca), who’s the son of Nathan West (Ryan Paevey).
GH writers might want to do something different with Nathan’s brother, so a girl would make sense for Peter. Plus, General Hospital has had a ton of Wiley Quartermaine-Corinthos (Erik and Theo Olson) drama over the last couple years.
Since the drama was so focused on a baby boy, it’s high time a baby girl was the focus instead.
General Hospital spoilers say Maxie will honor someone who can’t be home for Christmas this year. That should be some gesture to honor Lulu Spencer (Emme Rylan), so maybe Maxie will pick out a name that ties in with her comatose bestie. It’s another reason that having this baby be a girl makes sense.
Of course, General Hospital probably wants to save the confirmation of this baby’s gender for a surprise when the episode airs. There may not be hard evidence until Maxie and Peter learn the gender for themselves. That means no one can rule out the idea of a baby boy either.
A son for Peter wouldn’t be a terrible idea since it might highlight his fears about fatherhood. There could be concerns about this being another little Cesar Faison (Anders Hove). It could also set up a brother rivalry between James and his younger bro – the good son and the “bad” son due to their fathers.
Even so, a girl brings a certain softness to the story. Think about the bond Valentin Cassadine (James Patrick Stuart) has with Charlotte Cassadine (Scarlett Fernandez).
It wouldn’t be quite the same if Charlotte were a boy, now would it? Likewise, it’s just easier to play up the doting daddy angle for Peter if this kid’s a girl.
Between that and all the other girl hints we mentioned, it looks like Maxie and Peter may be expecting a daughter. We’ll offer updates as other GH details come in.
