General Hospital (GH) spoilers tease that Ava Jerome (Maura West) should be careful what she wishes for! GH fans know Ava has some complicated feelings regarding this marriage to Nikolas Cassadine (Marcus Coloma). Part of Ava hates Nikolas’ guts, but another part of her clearly has feelings for him since they ended up sharing a kiss.
Ava even admitted to Franco Baldwin (Roger Howarth) that her hatred for Nikolas was better than feeling empty. Ever since Kiki Jerome’s (Hayley Erin) death, Ava’s indeed been battling that emptiness. If nothing else, this feud with Nikolas has provided a much-needed distraction from Ava’s guilt and grief.
However, we’d say there’s more to it than that. No one forced Ava and Nikolas to lock lips – off screen, but still! The point is Ava and Nikolas feel something more than just rage toward each other, even if they’re unwilling to admit it.
Nevertheless, Nikolas and Ava have been plotting to activate the cheating clause, but that plan’s been a bust from the start.
Ava was hoping “chronically unfaithful” Elizabeth Baldwin (Rebecca Herbst) would betray Franco by landing in bed with Nikolas, but that’s not going to happen. Liz is onto the scheme – and it probably wouldn’t have happened even if she’d never found out the truth.
Franco and Liz may have their fair share of issues right now, but they’re committed to each other.
Of course, Ava has always kept her options open when it comes to this betrayal plot. General Hospital fans will recall how Ava noticed Nikolas and Brook Lynn Quartermaine (Amanda Setton back then) bonding. Ava clearly saw the potential for another route if this Liz angle didn’t pan out.
Brook Lynn’s in the hospital and will be recovering for a while, so she’s also off the table for now. Even so, Ava may revisit the idea of another woman to lure Nikolas in bed.
Ava can walk away with 90 percent of the Cassadine fortune and get out of this marriage if Nikolas strays. All Ava needs is someone familiar to Nikolas – another former flame to reignite passion between them.
Now that we know Britt Westbourne (Kelly Thiebaud) is coming back for a longer stint, perhaps Ava will try shoving Britt and Nikolas together. If so, Ava might get her wish.
Britt’s presumably still single and ready to mingle. Britt found herself in Julian Jerome’s (William deVry) bed during her last stint, but could Nikolas’ bed be next?
Ava might trigger that cheating clause, but is that really what she wants? Will Ava get rid of Nikolas and gain the bulk of the Cassadine fortune – only to realize she wants this marriage to be the real deal? If so, Britt and her flying sparks with Nikolas could present a major obstacle! We’ll pass along updates as other GH news pops up.
