General Hospital Spoilers: Should GH Do a Time Jump On Show’s New Episodes? – Tristan Rogers Asks Fans to Weigh In

General Hospital (GH) spoilers reveal that Tristan Rogers (Robert Scorpio) wants your help! This GH star is interested in hearing what fans have to say about the future of the show. General Hospital viewers know GH was forced to suspend production due to COVID-19 aka the coronavirus concerns. There’s no word on when the cast and crew can film again, but Rogers is already thinking about story plans.

“I think it’s time we had some thought provoking insight,” Rogers said on Twitter. “So I want to know should GH pu where it left off. OR should we jump ahead and assume stories started were resolved and simply use them in back story. Your the fans your voice should be heard.”

There are several ways GH writers could take things when production resumes. For starters, they could pick right back up where they left off and keep telling the stories they were in the middle of. There would be some good reasons to do that since major story developments just happened before the break.

However, certain things have been written that will likely be scrapped now – like the Nurses Ball. Even Anna Devane (Finola Hughes) and Hamilton Finn’s (Michael Easton) wedding may be ditched since group scenes probably won’t be possible.

Social distancing precautions will naturally influence stories, so they may have to drastically alter scripts and throw things out anyway.

Plus, General Hospital actually ended in a place that’s nearly perfect for a time jump. Days of Our Lives did one last fall just for drama’s sake and it worked out quite well for the show.

A time jump doesn’t mean you skip what happened exactly. It just means you jump forward and fill in the gaps later. It can be fun to slowly figure out how the characters got where they are now.

Let’s think about what a time jump would mean for GH. Flash forward to Valentin Cassadine (James Patrick Stuart) feeling large and in charge at ELQ. Flash forward to druggie Sasha Gilmore (Sofia Mattsson) at rock bottom or even Michael Corinthos (Chad Duell) visiting her grave.

Flash forward to Maxie Jones (Kirsten Storms) several months along in her pregnancy with Peter August (Wes Ramsey) happily putting the crib together. Flash forward to Willow Corinthos (Katelyn MacMullen) in love with Michael while Nelle Benson Jerome’s (Chloe Lanier) already calling Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros) “Mom.”

That doesn’t sound so bad, does it? Moving ahead to the good stuff? There could also be some surprises – like unexpected couple shakeups, new Pentonville inmates, returning characters already being back on canvas, etc.

Newly created flashbacks could be used so no one would miss anything. We could still see Nina’s testimony and how it influenced the outcome of the custody case. We could also still see Nina’s reaction to the necklace and her efforts to prove Nelle is her biological daughter.

A time jump wouldn’t mean skipping over anything important; it would simply play out in a different way and spark some new mysteries. It’s something intriguing to think about as we await more new episodes from General Hospital! We’ll pass along updates as other GH news emerges.

How do you think the show should handle things? Should they pick up right where they left off or do a time jump with flashback explanations?
