General Hospital Spoilers: Wednesday, August 5 Recap - Sonny Gives Mike Permission To Die - Nelle Plants Wiley Tracking Device

General Hospital (GH) spoilers recap for Wednesday, August 5, reveal that Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) dreamed that Mike Corbin (Max Gail) was alive. The dream started out positive, with Mike telling Sonny enthusiastically that he was right to administer the feeding tube. “Now that I’ve got nutrition, I feel like my old self!” Mike said.

But then the dream turned strange, with Mike saying, “And you did this to me…I mean FOR me.” Sonny then watched as Mike faded away into thin air.

Sonny woke up with a start, then talked with Carly Corinthos (Laura Wright). Sonny shared with Carly that Turning Woods was going to transfer Mike to GH to insert the feeding tube. “It’s all worth it if it gives dad more time,” Sonny said.

Later, after Sonny left, Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) arrived and Carly lamented about the possible complications for Mike. Carly thought that she and Jason should go try to talk Sonny out of the procedure.

At the hospital, Sonny wheeled a catatonic Mike in, and a nurse took Mike to get ready for his procedure. Sonny talked to a doctor about possible complications, then Felix DuBois (Marc Samuel) came by saying that he’s assigned to Yvonne Godfrey (Janet Hubert).

Felix explained that Yvonne had severe complications with her feeding tube and that she was now on a ventilator. Sonny asked to see Yvonne.

Later, Sonny stood outside Yvonne’s room looking in through the window. Yvonne was on a ventilator and was restrained. Sonny saw Yvonne trying to move and get out of her restraints.

Sonny was clearly moved by this emotional scene and asked Felix why Yvonne was in restraints. Felix said that Yvonne kept trying to pull out the ventilator and feeding tube. Sonny was horrified.

Sonny sat alone in a waiting area when Elizabeth Baldwin (Rebecca Herbst) came and gently sat down next to him. Sonny shared that he saw Yvonne, and he shared his feelings with Elizabeth about his father still being “in there” somewhere.

Sonny said that he’d feel like he failed Mike and himself if he didn’t try to keep Mike alive. Elizabeth said that Mike wouldn’t feel that way.

Elizabeth shied away from stating her feelings, but Sonny said that she was a trusted friend and that he wanted her take. “What do you think?” Sonny asked.

Elizabeth said that even with a feeding tube, Mike was going to die, and that Sonny needed to ask himself how much Mike was suffering now. “I think you know what your dad would want,” Elizabeth said softly, “But you’re feeling guilty. But this isn’t about you. It’s about Mike.”

Sonny sighed, and Elizabeth said that Lucky Spencer (Jonathan Jackson) once told her something that Mary Mae Ward (Rosalind Cash) would say – that life presents opportunities for grace realized.

Elizabeth went on, saying that grace comes when we’re forced to make difficult choices – ones that often hurt us but help our loved ones. Sonny listened in tears.

Later, Jason and Carly arrived, and Carly asked if Mike had the procedure yet. Sonny said no, and that he had changed his mind about the procedure. Sonny thanked Jason and Carly for giving him room to make the decision, and that he needed to figure it out for himself…with a little help from Elizabeth.

Sonny went to talk to the doctors, and Carly thanked Elizabeth. “I’m going to miss Mike,” Elizabeth said. “We all will,” Jason said sadly.

Sonny went to Mike’s room, where Mike was in bed. Sonny told Mike that there wasn’t going to be a procedure, and that when he’s ready to sleep, it will be because he chooses to.

Sonny said that he loved Mike, and that if he didn’t want to stick around, he didn’t have to. “Whenever you’re ready to go, you can go,” Sonny said. Mike nodded and cried.

At the Metro Court, Sam McCall (Linsday Hartley) talked via phone with Alexis Davis (Nancy Lee Grahn), then she spotted Neil Byrne (Joe Flanigan) at a table. Sam walked over and asked Neil what had happened with Alexis.

Sam told Neil that Alexis was disbarred. Neil lamely said that Alexis had drunk because of him and Sam said that other things happened that had nothing to do with him. Sam blasted Neil, saying that he wasn’t a doctor anymore and could go see Alexis.

In another area of the Metro Court, Nelle Benson Jerome (Chloe Lanier) met with Valentin Cassadine (James Patrick Stuart). “Where is it?” Nelle demanded. Valentin said that he didn’t have “it” on him.

After some unpleasant bickering, Valentin revealed that the “documents” were behind a dumpster in the parking garage. Nelle took off.

Valentin then found Sam at the bar, saying that he had a business proposition for her. He explained that he wanted to acquire Danny Morgan’s (Porter Fasullo) and Scout Cain’s (Ella Ramacieri) voting stock in ELQ.

Sam balked, but Valentin persisted, saying that he just wanted the power to vote with the shares until the kids reach 18 years of age.

Valentin then said that he knew about how Sam’s parole officer was keeping her from Jason, and that he could make all of that go away…for the right to vote the kids’ shares and for Sam’s science on the matter. Valentin told Sam to think about it, and he walked away. Sam was dumbfounded.

At the Quartermaine mansion, Willow Corinthos (Katelyn MacMullen) and Michael Corinthos (Chad Duell) talked about Wiley Quartermaine Corinthos (Erik and Theo Olson) and how they wanted to keep Nelle from him. They waited for Nelle to show up for her scheduled visitation, but she was late, so they decided to take Wiley to the park after his nap.

Nelle eventually showed up, but since Wiley was napping, Michael and Willow suggested that they reschedule Nelle’s visitation. Nelle asked Michael and Willow to give Wiley a little stuffed bear from her.

Willow said that Wiley’s favorite stuffed animal was a kangaroo that happened to be sitting nearby. Nelle picked up the kangaroo and fiddled with it. After some bickering between the three adults, Nelle left.

Standing outside the Q mansion, Nelle looked at a tracking app on her phone, and it appeared that she had put a tracker on the stuffed kangaroo. “Now mom will always know where her precious Wiley is,” Nelle mused to herself.

Nelle then whipped out a passport for herself and Wiley and perused them. Meanwhile, inside the mansion, Michael told Willow that no matter what, she’d always be Wiley’s mother.

At Alexis’ house, Diane Miller (Carolyn Hennesy) rehashed what was going on in the custody hearing with Alexis, then talk turned to Alexis and Neil. Diane and Alexis rehashed how Alexis had perjured herself on Neil’s behalf.

Soon, Neil showed up at the door and Diane took off. Neil wanted to acknowledge that Alexis had been disbarred and he wanted to apologize. Alexis was bristly and didn’t accept his apology.
