General Hospital (GH) spoilers reveal that fans are eager to see the cast and crew get back on set to shoot new episodes. Although there’s no official word on when that’ll happen, General Hospital’s hopefully inching closer to an eventual restart date. In the meantime, the show left us with some great cliffhangers to mull over. Let’s talk about the baby bomb that Maxie Jones (Kristen Storms) is facing.
Thanks to Maxie’s latest symptoms and a quick look at her calendar, she clearly suspects she might be pregnant. Maxie seems overwhelmed and even a bit concerned about this possibility, but she tried to play it cool in her last chat with Peter August (Wes Ramsey).
Maxie doesn’t want to let herself totally freak out until she knows for a fact this is true.
However, General Hospital spoilers confirmed a pregnancy for one character before Maxie’s realization – and Maxie is undoubtedly that character. This storyline is supposed to bring a long-simmering conflict to its boiling point, so that certainly fits with Peter and his terrible secrets.
Of course, it could take some time before Peter’s crimes are exposed. GH doesn’t seem to be in any hurry to reveal Peter’s guilt to Maxie, especially now that she’s pregnant. General Hospital writers might as well let Maxie get a bit further along before she faces this horrible shocker.
With that in mind, Maxie’s pregnancy storyline will probably follow a pretty predictable path. It seems likely Maxie will nervously break the news to Peter and express relief when he’s delighted. Peter will undoubtedly embrace the notion of having a baby with Maxie.
Once Peter wraps his head around Maxie’s bombshell, he’ll know how critical it is to keep Maxie in the dark on all his transgressions. Peter won’t want Maxie thinking he can’t be the dad this child needs.
That could lead to even darker behavior from Peter as he tries to put out a few fires. An engagement also seems likely as Peter works to cement his future family.
Down the road, Maxie will be able to find out the gender of this impending bundle of joy. Will Maxie learn she’s having a boy or a girl? It’ll be interesting to see which route GH writers take when it comes to this gender reveal.
There’d be some good reasons to make this baby a boy, especially if General Hospital’s really going to let Maxie have the kid.
The idea of Maxie having one “good son” with Nathan West (Ryan Paevey) and one “bad son” with Peter is awfully tempting. That could set up a ton of drama and pit these new brothers against each other eventually.
Nevertheless, a girl for Maxie is also a great option. Charlotte Cassadine (Scarlett Fernandez) thinks her nefarious father, Valentin Cassadine (James Patrick Stuart), is the best papa ever.
Girls can sometimes tug at the heartstrings a bit more in fictional contexts. With girls, there’s usually a bigger push to be a doting dad to them when you’re talking about characters with a dark side.
Soaps also tend to mix it up when it comes to the genders of new soap kids. Since they’ve had a big storyline revolving around Wiley Quartermaine-Corinthos (Erik and Theo Olson), maybe the next baby story will revolve around Maxie’s little girl.
Maxie’s already got Georgie Spinelli (Lily Fisher) and James West (Caleb and Kyler Ends), but what about her third child? Do you think Maxie will have a baby boy or girl? We’ll pass along updates as other GH details emerge.
