General Hospital (GH) spoilers tease that the ABC soap will step back in time on April 7. GH will rewind and give Carly Corinthos’ (Laura Wright) relationship with Nelle Benson Archer (Chloe Lanier) a closer look. They’ll take us back to both of their childhoods and show us a glimpse of how their rivalry ultimately became so intense.
GH fans know Carly’s adoptive father, Frank Benson, was supposedly Nelle’s bio dad. We say supposedly since it seems like a done deal that Nelle’s going to be Nina Reeves’ (Cynthia Watros) biological daughter, which would make Nelle’s true father Silas Clay (Michael Easton).
In fact, the bio daughter shocker will probably be revealed by the end of this Carly-centric special, which will also feature Nelle heavily. Eden McCoy (Josslyn Jacks) will portray a young version of Carly in flashback scenes, but General Hospital hired someone new to play a tiny Nelle.
According to Soap Opera Digest, Willa Rose will portray Nelle as a young girl. Rose has been featured as Chloe Gibson in an episode of the TV series, Here and Now. The adorable actress also played Paula in another series called I’m Dying Up Here. However, this will mark Rose’s soapy debut, so General Hospital fans certainly want to give her a warm welcome.
GH tends to cast stellar kids, so Rose will undoubtedly be a great fit as Nelle. We know Frank was a pretty awful human, so perhaps fans will see how his treatment of Nelle affected her. Frank’s probably a big part of why Nelle turned out to be so manipulative.
Nelle was repeatedly lied to by her trash father and became a true survivor. She’s one messed-up individual, but she may not have started out that way. Nelle clearly has some mental issues that likely run deeper than a bad childhood, but nasty Frank couldn’t have helped. As it turns out, neither did Carly!
Carly’s past will collide with Nelle’s in some upcoming scenes, so we’ll see the genesis of their feud. It may play more into their current problems than Carly’s willing to admit. General Hospital will probably do some rewrites here and there to make this story fit the way they want, but this flashback episode sounds intriguing.
