British royals news reveals that Kate Middleton recently paid a virtual visit to the staff and residents of an addiction treatment center. Although Kate was unable to get a tour of the facility in person due to the coronavirus lockdown, she met with the director and staff on a video call, and she praised the work done by the facility, calling it “a lifeline.”
The facility is the Clouds House center in Wiltshire, and Kate spoke with staff and residents in part to see how they were doing considering the current pandemic. Kate said that she would like to tour the facility and meet the team in person when the time is right and when things get back to normal.
Kate Middleton’s virtual visit comes as a new survey from Action on Addiction shows that as many as a quarter of British adults may be drinking more during the lockdown. Action on Addiction is a charity that serves those who are affected by alcohol and drug addiction.
Kate spoke with clients at the center as well as those who are utilizing the center’s online aftercare services. She also interacted heavily with Graham Beech, who is Action on Addiction’s chief executive who spoke about the need for people to reach out for help during the coronavirus crisis.
During the conversation, Kate said: “The worrying thing is all those people who aren’t necessarily reaching out who are struggling. It’s about making sure they can reach out and you are there to help and support them.”
Kate continued: “It’s a lifeline to so many people and it’s great that they’re able to continue the support, whether remotely or those receiving treatment at the center now during lockdown and finding life-changing support. Well done!”
Kate Middleton’s visit to the treatment center was officially announced on the @KensingtonRoyal Instagram feed, which featured a short video of highlights from Kate’s virtual visit.
The video’s caption reads: “The Duchess of Cambridge goes on a virtual tour! Having met with the amazing staff of @ActionAddiction, The Duchess spoke with current clients & those accessing the online Clouds aftercare service to see how they have been doing throughout the lockdown period.”
It’s great work by the folks at Clouds House, and Kate has certainly helped to bring awareness to the cause. Be sure to check back here at CDL for more British royals news and updates.
