Pride welcomed his mother back to New Orleans. Mena Cantrell’s memory was coming and going and Pride wanted to move her nearby so that he could keep a closer eye on her. He also needed some answers from her. Mena was the only other person that knew about Red. She could give Pride details to help him finally close this case and so Pride brought his mother back for several reasons. He later made her comfortable. He took her back to the bar and there he asked his mother about “Red”. Red’s real name was Clarence Redding. Mena had remembered that much and she didn’t want to give up any other details about him.

Mena had shut down. Pride could see it and so he didn’t push her. He also received a call from work. There was a Naval Engineer in critical condition and the man’s daughter was missing. She was either taken or fled the scene. Pride commanded his team to find Rachel. They used all their resources and they turned to NOPD Officer Tome Breaux. Breaux was a friend of the family. He knew that Rachel goes to the treehouse her father built for her whenever she’s nervous and so he took Gregorio to the location. Together they found Rachel. Rachel was autistic and Gregorio had to gain her trust before Rachel would come out of her treehouse.

Gregorio told Rachel that her first name was Tammy. She mentioned she was a Virgo and she even told Rachel her greatest struggle was her temper. Gregorio sometimes acts before she thinks. She told Rachel all of this to gain the teenager’s trust and it worked. Rachel came out of the treehouse. She even came down and they were going to talk to her some more when people began shooting at them. They shot and killed Breaux. Gregorio made sure she safeguarded Rachel and they ran. Gregorio tried to take out the shooters. She got one of them and then she fell. She fell down a mountain where she lost her gun.

It was Gregorio’s only weapon. She was left defenseless without it and so Rachel found them a place to hide. The teenager knew all about hiding places. She was a research specialist and she took Gregorio to a deserted plant. They were hiding there as the rest of her team continued to look for Rachel. Rachel was incredibly smart. Her autism didn’t affect her in that way and she had left behind a lot of information on her laptop. The same laptop that got shot up when she and her father were attacked. The team suspected she might have been the target all along. They looked into it and they found out the gun used to shoot her father was involved in five other homicides.

Rachel’s latest research had been about travel. She was looking into the safest way to travel to Arizona for her aunt’s wedding and so Rachel devoted hours to her research. She did that with everything. Rachel knew about the power plant because she knew it was still leaking runoff toxins. Rachel wrote over three hundred emails to her closest official to get that leak investigated and no one has responded. The team had found those emails. They realized that was close to the treehouse and so they made it to the plant just in time to save Gregorio and Rachel. Her research had saved them.

The team was able to move Rachel back to their offices. They kept her safe and so Patton used that time in between cases to track down Clarence Redding. It turns out Cassius hadn’t murdered him. He was still alive and he remembered Pride. Red told Pride what happened that night. He had gotten so bad that he thought he was going to die and he even saw a white light. Only he didn’t die. Red was driven to the border and he was told to leave Louisiana or else Cassius was going to kill him as well as Mena. And so Red left the state and he started over in Texas where he met a wonderful woman.

Red had a good life. The one thing he always regretted was never saying goodbye to Pride and his mother and so he asked if he could speak to Mena, but Pride told him her situation. She was left in a bad state. She was constantly afraid of Cassius because she thought her husband was still alive. Mena was in no condition to see someone from her past and so the reunion had to be put on hold. Pride still had to finish his case. He and the team later learned that Rachel was the target all along. She was doing research into an airline to go to her aunt’s wedding and she found out someone was sabotaging the airline.

Rachel was relentless with her research. She contacted the Chief Safety Officer of the airline and she told him all about what she found. She didn’t know he was purposely tanking his own company. Zion Air was supposed to fail. Rachel found out about it and the people behind the sabotage had targeted her because they wanted to bury her research. She found out the company was purposely tanked so that it could be bought by a shell company. The shell company was in actuality the cartel and they were hoping to prove product as well as guns through an airline with an already built-in airline approval.

The Chief Security Officer was Veidt. He wasn’t at home and the team believed he might have gone on the run the moment it all came out with Rachel. But Veidt didn’t go on the run. He followed Rachel back to the house and he planned on killing her when Gregorio stopped him. Gregorio arrested Veidt. He was finally going to pay for everything he did and Rachel and her father were now safe. Her father later came out of surgery just fine. He was reunited with his daughter when he woke up and together they’ll move past what happened.

Pride in the meantime told his mother that Red was alive and he reunited them.

Red and Mena got to play the piano together again.

THE END!
