The Bold and the Beautiful (B&B) spoilers tease that Hope Logan (Annika Noelle) and Liam Spencer (Scott Clifton) will continue to focus on their family. Now that Hope and Liam have reunited, they can give their full attention to each other and the kids. Getting Beth Spencer (River Davidson and Madeline Valdez) back was a dream come true, and “Lope’s” committed to being there for Douglas Forrester (Henry Joseph Samiri), too.
However, some B&B fans remain disgruntled about the show’s treatment of Caroline Spencer (Linsey Godfrey). Was it wrong to kill Caroline off? The Bold and the Beautiful viewers will recall that Caroline died after a sudden blot clot in 2019, which paved the way for Thomas Forrester’s (Matthew Atkinson) becoming obsessed with Hope and making her Douglas’ new mom.
Of course, Caroline’s death certainly allowed for some good drama. Douglas’ bond with Hope was a crucial part of the story and served as a way for Thomas to manipulate Hope as well as his own son. Some might say the positives of killing off Caroline outweighed the negatives since Linsey Godfrey has another role on Days of Our Lives now anyway.
Others can’t help but feel like it was disrespectful to the character, who could’ve been recast. There’s also a chance Godfrey would’ve been willing to come back years down the road. It was a waste to kill Caroline off in some ways. It also stings a little every time Douglas calls Hope his mommy. Caroline was the robbed of the chance to be Douglas’ mom and was replaced far too easily.
On the bright side, this is a soap where the impossible becomes possible. If Sally Spectra (Courtney Hope) can fake a terminal illness, Caroline could’ve easily faked her death. It could be rewritten somewhere down the line to suggest that Caroline had to protect herself from Thomas.
As for why Caroline would leave Douglas behind, perhaps Caroline thought the Forresters would watch out for him. Then again, they could take things in another direction and write it so Thomas faked Caroline’s demise. It might’ve been part of Thomas’ elaborate plan to be with Hope.
If Caroline turned up alive after years in captivity, that’d be quite a twist – especially if it happens after Thomas reforms and finally gets his life together. That’d be the perfect time to reveal a deep, dark secret. Naturally, Caroline’s return on B&B would be more likely if Godfrey were available, so that might be a trick they reserve. It’s a good backup plan to have in case Godfrey ever leaves Days.
It might’ve been wrong to kill off Caroline, but the good news is nothing has to be permanent on a soap. If B&B ever wants to bring Caroline back, they can easily still do it!
