The Young and the Restless spoilers document that Alice Johnson (Tamara Clatterbuck) may want to reach out to Sharon Newman (Sharon Case) after learning of her cancer diagnosis. Doing so would revive the classic Cassie Newman (Mariah Grimes’ initial role on the show) backstory once again.
Alice most recently appeared on Y&R in 2017. Viewers may recall that she came to The Underground, not knowing Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) was the owner. He contacted Sharon, who eventually learned that Alice was involved in a criminal organization.

A real underground existed in Genoa City, Wisconsin. As part of that arc, Crystal Porter (Megan Obenreder), was written into the show as Tessa Porter’s (Cait Fairbanks) sister three years ago.
As the sinister storyline played out, Mariah Copeland (Grimes’ current Y&R role) gaslighted Alice in order to force her to admit where Crystal was forced to go.
Cassie’s ghost hadn’t been seen since Mariah was paid by Victor Newman (Eric Braeden), who played psychological games with Sharon a handful of years earlier. That was during the period when Grimes returned as a full-time cast member.
Zack Stinnett (Ryan Ashton), the head of the trafficking ring, was eventually stopped. But along the way he targeted Alice for disobeying him. She was hospitalized after being hit by a car, escaped, and hasn’t been seen since.

Longtime fans know that Alice wasn’t a good adoptive mother to Cassie, who she often left in her mother’s, Millie Johnson’s (Ernestine Mercer), care. That late 1990’s tale served as the backstory to the late 2010’s storyline that enabled Clatterbuck’s return to the cast.
Jennifer Gareis (who became the Grace Turner recast in 1997, following Josie Davis’ exit, and who currently plays Donna Logan on The Bold and the Beautiful), was key to reuniting Cassie with her birth mother, Sharon.
Alice was in sorry shape when the audience first met her more than twenty years ago. Her return in modern times revealed that she hadn’t adjusted her life.
Having Alice reach out to Sharon later this summer would revive a known character from the past, while also allowing a redemptive storyline to be presented. Fans have seen Alice at her worst. Why not offer an uplifting update as part of Sharon’s cancer fight?
Young And The Restless Spoilers – Personal Connections Don’t Hurt
Case uses her Instagram account to stay in touch with fans. Earlier this year she posted a birthday related photo that included Mark Grossman (Adam Newman), along with former cast mates.
Clatterbuck, Gareis, and Lauren Woodland (Brittany Hodges Guittierez) appear in the photo with Case at her celebration. As the old school saying goes, having friends helps.
So, it’s reasonable to believe that Case would be open to working with Clatterbuck again. The audience would benefit if this projected comeback happens, as there is more story that can be told regarding Sharon, Alice, Mariah, and the others.
