The Young and the Restless Spoilers: Billy’s Alter Ego The Shooter - Gum-Chewing Personality Tried To Kill Adam?

The Young and the Restless spoilers tease that the hunt for the person who shot Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) will continue. As Y&R viewers know, whoever shot Adam seemed to do a very good job of setting up Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) to take the fall for the crime.

The actual shooter managed to leave one of Billy’s blue earbuds at the scene, and he or she stole Billy’s gun to use in the crime. That would have been no mean feat, so this shooter was trying hard to set Billy up.

But of course, Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) remains convinced that it wasn’t a set-up, and that Billy himself was probably the culprit who tried to kill Adam but shot Chance Chancellor (Justin Gaston) instead.

Victor knows the history of animosity between Adam and Billy, and it looks like in the week to come, Victor will be even more convinced that Billy is the shooter.

Well, Rey Rosales (Jordi Vilasuso) has made it very clear that the evidence against Billy seems far too neat and tidy – almost as if someone’s setting Billy up.

It seems that way to viewers, too, since Billy appeared to be occupied when the break-in occurred at Victoria Newman’s (Amelia Heinle) house which is when Billy’s gun was stolen from its lock box. But what if Victor turns out to be right, and it actually was Billy who perpetrated the shooting?

There is the possibility, given Billy’s history of mental instability, that he could have been the shooter but doesn’t realize it. Y&R viewers will remember that Billy’s personality split a few months ago, back when Billy was losing time and the gum-chewing version of Billy took over his persona.

That gum-chewing Billy actually tried to run down Adam with a car, but Chloe Mitchell (Elizabeth Hendrickson) saved Adam at the last second.

Billy was then taken to the boathouse on the Chancellor property, where he and Victoria worked through his problems together. Rather than getting Billy professional help, Billy’s big breakthrough occurred in the boathouse, where he ultimately fought off his alternate personality and that personality went away…or did it?

Could it be that gum-chewing Billy returned and took over Billy’s personality and tried to shoot Adam? That would explain why all the evidence leads to Billy.

Who knows – gum-chewing Billy could have even staged the whole thing to look like a setup to actually point the finger AWAY from Billy, making the evidence against Billy look too neat, knowing that Rey would think Billy didn’t really do it.

It would be grand plan on gum-chewing Billy’s part, if indeed that’s what happened. And it would also mean that the person who should be getting intensive psychiatric treatment should be Billy instead of Adam…or maybe in addition to Adam!

We’ll see how this all plays out, but there might be a twist coming for viewers. Do you think that Billy’s alter personality could have returned to commit this horrible crime outside of Billy’s awareness?
