The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers tease that Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) may play while Summer Newman’s (Hunter King) away! Y&R fans may have heard about an ABC comedy pilot called Prospect, which had Hunter King attached to it.
Hunter’s still the lead on this project, although IMDb is now calling it a TV movie – suggesting it’s become a one-time film instead of a pilot intended to become a full-length series.
Of course, anything can happen if a project’s popular enough, but even a TV movie would seemingly require Hunter King to take time off for filming. King may be poised to take a step back from The Young and the Restless once Prospect gets greenlit for production. With that in mind, let’s think about what Summer’s absence would mean for Kyle.
It seems likely Summer would leave due to work, so there might be some big Jabot crisis that needs Summer’s attention. Maybe Summer could work at the Paris office or somewhere else until the crisis was resolved. That could mean weeks or months away from Kyle, who’ll officially become Summer’s fiancé during the week of September 21-25.
Kyle and Summer are already secretly engaged, but they’ll make things more formal by proposing to each other at Chancellor Park. Summer will accept Kyle’s engagement ring, though she’ll wear it on a chain around her neck for a while.
Kyle and Summer will still want to keep this on the down low so they don’t upset Lola Rosales (Sasha Calle) or freak out their parents.
However, Summer and Kyle’s engagement shocker will explode before you know it. There are bound to be more naysayers who think Kyle and Summer are moving too fast, but they have total faith in each other. These two are truly on cloud nine right now, which gives them a long way to fall!
What happens if Summer leaves town? Assuming filming eventually starts on Prospect, King will probably have to have a good chunk of time off since she’s the lead. That could leave Kyle lonely and tempted in Genoa City.
Courtney Hope (ex-Sally Spectra on The Bold and the Beautiful) is headed to Y&R in a role that hasn’t been announced yet, so she could easily play a new love interest for Kyle. Could Kyle cheat on his new fiancée while she’s gone? Could Summer get betrayed if Kyle can’t resist this gorgeous, feisty redhead?
Whether Courtney Hope plays Sally Spectra or someone else, she could pose a serious threat to “Skyle.” Kyle and Summer’s relationship could wind up on the rocks, so we’ll offer updates as other news emerges.
