The Young and the Restless spoilers recap for Tuesday, September 1, tease that Summer Newman (Hunter King) and Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) will be nervous about their upcoming meeting with Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) and Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow).
At Crimson Lights, Summer and Kyle will discuss strategies for telling her parents that they’re going to move in together.
Meanwhile, over at the Grand Phoenix, Phyllis and Nick will prepare for their evening of dinner and drinks with Summer and Kyle. One thing will lead to another, and Phyllis and Nick will make love, making them late for the meeting.
They’ll finally head to the lobby, where Summer and Kyle will be waiting. Nick and Phyllis will immediately be suspicious as Summer and Kyle try to preface their big announcement.
Finally, Summer will blurt out that she and Kyle will be moving in together, which will please Phyllis, since Phyllis will have assumed that Summer was pregnant or that she and Kyle were engaged.
Nick will grump about Kyle still being married, and he’ll excuse himself and head to the bar. Summer will follow Nick, who will have calmed down a bit, and Summer will ask her dad for the house that he was going to give her and Kyle when they were first together.
Over with Phyllis and Kyle, Phyllis will warn Kyle that if he breaks Summer’s heart again, she’ll come up with a new cocktail at the Grand Phoenix, and it will be the weakest drink on the menu.
Summer and Nick will return, and Nick will tell the kids that they can have the house once construction is finished. Summer and Kyle will be thrilled.
Next, Mariah Copeland (Camryn Grimes) will visit with Sharon Newman (Sharon Case) at Sharon’s house. Mariah will come bearing gifts, then she’ll reveal that she knows about Sharon putting Adam Newman’s (Mark Grossman) needs above her own recovery.
Sharon and Mariah will argue, and Mariah will warn Sharon not to let Adam’s issues mess up her relationship with Rey Rosales (Jordi Vilasuso).
Sharon will assure Mariah that she won’t lose Rey over this, then Sharon will say that she’s got things to do. Mariah will take off, and Sharon will immediately leave the house afterwards.
At Adam and Chelsea Lawson’ (Melissa Claire Egan) penthouse, Adam will taunt Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) for showing up and wanting to fix things – just like he “fixed” things back in Kansas.
Adam will go on about his “killer instinct,” and Chelsea will protest. Adam will tell Victor to leave, but Victor will proceed to order Chelsea to take Connor Newman (Judah Mackey) and go to the ranch for the evening.
Once alone, Victor will try to reach out to Adam, but Adam will tell Victor to stop trying to play the hero. “You didn’t save me, dad, you ruined me,” Adam will lament.
Adam will blast Victor for not getting him psychological help as a boy. Victor will say that Adam killed AJ Montalvo accidentally, but Adam will disagree, ordering his father out. After urging Adam to get help, Victor will leave.
Later, Adam will be on his way out the door when Sharon shows up. Adam will reveal that he’s going to leave Genoa City and that this time he won’t be found. Sharon will say that’s a mistake for him, Chelsea, and Connor, and she’ll plead with Adam not to go.
Even though Sharon will have come to give Adam a list of other therapists to call, she’ll offer to help Adam through this personally if he’ll stay.
“I don’t deserve saving,” Adam will say. “Let me prove that you do,” Sharon will urge. Adam will agree, and Sharon tell him that this is the right thing to do. “I’ll stay,” Adam will finally say.
Over at the Newman Ranch, Chelsea will find Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott) and explain that Victor asked her to come to the ranch for the night. Nikki will snark that she hopes one night doesn’t lead to more, which could lead to the end of Chelsea and Adam.
Chelsea will be offended, but Nikki will apologize, and the women will be talking when Victor returns.
Victor will tell Nikki and Chelsea that he couldn’t get through to Adam, but that Adam needed them more than ever now. Chelsea will vow to head home in the morning to be there for Adam.
At Society, Theo Vanderway (Tyler Johnson) will find Lola Rosales (Sasha Calle) at the bar working, and he’ll apologize for putting Lola on the spot about Kyle earlier.
Lola will brush Theo off and Theo will head to a table for some food. Lola will retreat to the kitchen, where she’ll find Mariah waiting. Mariah will lament to Lola about Sharon and Rey’s personal business, then Lola will tell Mariah that Theo may have been more right about something than she wants to admit.
Later, Lola will approach Theo at his table, where he’s eating. Theo will say that the food is good but it’s not what he ordered. Lola will say that the food is meant to be an apology, and that she overreacted earlier because Theo wasn’t entirely wrong.
“So, you so have an issue with Kyle, then?” Theo will say. Lola will say that she doesn’t know how she feels, and Theo will assure her that she can vent to him and that he can take it.
Finally, back at Sharon’s place, Mariah will return to find a dark house. Mariah will look around and call out for her mom. “You didn’t…did you?” Mariah will say.
