The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers tease that a new character’s headed to Genoa City. Robert Gossett has been cast in the role of Dan Szymborski. Dan is someone who’s a strong supporter of Newman Enterprises – at least he has been so far. Could that change now that Victoria Newman’s (Amelia Heinle) causing such an uproar on the throne?
Victoria has definitely been shaking up the corporate world with her decisions lately. Y&R fans know Victoria sold off major divisions of the company – and to Newman’s rivals no less! Jabot got Newman’s cosmetic division, Chancellor Communications got Newman’s media division and there are other deals in progress.
Victoria scored top dollar when Jabot and Chance Comm made those acquisitions, but it was still a bold and risky move. It was Victoria’s way of proving she was feeling large and in charge! However, Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) wasn’t pleased and his allies are probably wondering if Victoria’s too gutsy for her own good.
That brings us to Dan, who’s been a Newman Enterprises ally in the past. The Young and the Restless spoilers say Dan will make a connection with Victoria on September 2. There might be some situation where Victoria has to charm Dan a bit. Perhaps Victoria will flirt to reassure Dan that the company’s in better hands than ever.
The Young and the Restless spoilers also point to Victoria blurring the lines between business and pleasure. That’s happening on September 2 as well, so Victoria may schmooze Dan and hope he remains in her corner.
This could be as simple as fun banter or as serious as getting a room! Who really knows with the current version of Victoria? We’re dealing with someone who’s willing to do just about anything to ensure she keeps the upper hand.
Victoria has also blurred business and pleasure lines in the past – like when she slept with Benjamin Hochman (Ben Hermes).
It’s possible Victoria will take the idea of locking in an ally too far when it comes to Dan. Nevertheless, we’d say this will probably be more about charming Dan than crossing any boundaries. Victoria has a way of getting what she wants these days, so Dan may decide he’s on her side.
As for Robert Gossett, you might recognize him from his work on primetime shows like The Enemy Within, Greenleaf, Major Crimes and The Closer. Gossett also appeared on three episodes of Y&R in 2007 when he played the role of Incident Commander.
It’ll be great to see Gossett hit Genoa City as Dan this time around – especially since Victoria will apparently have some flirty tricks up her sleeve.
