The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers reveal that one CBS soap star recently took part in a virtual event for a great cause. Y&R fans know Sharon Newman (Sharon Case) has been facing a difficult breast cancer battle, but she’s been showing true bravery and strength along the way. Sharon Case voiced her support to those facing real-life cancer battles during the American Cancer Society’s Share the Light Facebook live event.
This event was all about sharing inspiring stories, highlighting cancer research and offering patient support during a global pandemic. Although this is a challenging time for almost everyone, it’s particularly difficult for those who have recently been diagnosed with cancer.
Several people opened up during this live event in hopes of encouraging others and raising money to help researchers.
During Case’s portion of the live event, she offered encouragement as well. “I’m Sharon Case from The Young and the Restless, and I am shining the light to all of you survivors out there. Shine bright,” Case said. “And I would like to shine the light for all the researchers out there working for a cure.”
Case also talked about this live event and her Y&R storyline in a recent Instagram story. “I’m so honored to be involved…as U may know, my character Sharon Newman on The Young and the Restless is battling breast cancer and our message is about early detection,” Case said. “Support @americancancersociety #sharethelight #findacure.”
Of course, a storyline that focuses on the importance of early detection is going to end on a positive note. Sharon will ultimately recover, but she’ll continue to need each member of “Team Sharon” as this story continues.
The plan was originally for this plot to run through October for Breast Cancer Awareness Month, but we’ll see if anything changes now that the show’s back in production.
Regardless, it’s great to see Case spreading the word and supporting those facing battles just like her character’s. We’ll pass along updates as other Y&R news rolls in. The Young and the Restless spoilers say some gripping material’s in store once new episodes return.
