The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers tease that Theo Vanderway (Tyler Johnson) could really use a new rival. Y&R viewers have seen more than enough drama between Theo and Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor). Kyle admitted that even when they were friends, there was always something competitive about their relationship.
Nevertheless, many fans have grown tired of the cousin battle at this point. Although Kyle may never completely get along with Theo, he did express regret about how things went down at Jabot.
Kyle’s glee over firing Theo quickly turned into feeling sorry for him, so maybe there’s a chance they’ll move in the direction of friendship again. If so, Theo’s going to need someone else to fight with.
It’s just in Theo’s nature to be smug and butt heads with other people. Let’s consider some options for Theo’s next rival – starting with one protective big brother!
If Theo dares to hurt Lola Rosales (Sasha Calle), he’ll have to face Rey Rosales (Jordi Vilasuso) wrath. Rey unleashed his fury on Kyle for breaking Lola’s heart, so he wouldn’t hesitate to spew anger at Theo, too.
However, there are other new rivalry options, including some unrelated to Theo’s love life. When The Young and the Restless last left off, Theo was clearly having a lightbulb moment.
After listening in on that Chancellor Communications meeting, Theo seems poised to seek a position there. That opens the door to plenty of different new business adversaries.
Theo could spar with Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) over ideas, especially if Lily Winters (Christel Khalil) backs Theo up 100 percent. That’d be a way for Theo to keep his job and still stir up some trouble at the office.
Then again, Y&R could swing it the other way and have Billy supporting Theo as a fellow renegade. It might be Lily who pushes back on Theo’s ideas – which is the kind of thing that could set up flying sparks under the right circumstances.
Of course, there are also Chancellor Communications’ rivals to think about. This company division was created to compete with Newman Enterprises, so Theo might find himself clashing with Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle) or even Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) if Adam worms his way back in the company.
There’s definitely the potential for a Newman rival down the road.
