The Young and the Restless Spoilers Update: Thursday, September 17 – Lola Fumes Over Theo & Chelsea Flirting

The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers update for Thursday, September 17, teases that the drama’s about to heat up in Genoa City. At Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) and Chelsea Lawson’s (Melissa Claire Egan) penthouse, they decide that Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) needs to be dealt with before they go after Victor Newman (Eric Braeden).

Chelsea thinks they should see whatever evidence Billy has and how he plans to use it. Adam wonders if Chelsea’s suggesting they should break into Chancellor Communications, but she’s cooking up something way more sophisticated.

“Just leave Billy Abbott to me. I’ll get us what we need,” Chelsea promises. All Chelsea needs to know is that Adam trusts her. “With my life,” Adam declares.

At Chance Comm, Theo Vanderway (Tyler Johnson) gushes over being a big fan of Amanda Sinclair (Mishael Morgan), who always has instant answers for questions. Theo talks about Amanda belonging in front of the camera and being “drop dead gorgeous.”

Billy asks if Theo’s interested in Amanda – and not just professionally. Theo snickers and suggests he was about to ask Billy the same thing. Billy insists he’s not interested in dating Amanda or anyone else right now.

Theo insists he doesn’t want to mess things up with Lola Rosales (Sasha Calle), so Billy thinks he’s a smart man. They all work together and Amanda’s dating Nate Hastings (Sean Dominic) anyway.

Billy shifts gears and brings up the list of true crime podcasters Theo has compiled. Billy’s looking for someone reliable enough to work on a big story that’ll shake up Genoa City.

Later, Theo ends up at Society and speaks with a woman named Kelly over the phone. He thinks she’d be perfect for this story and hopes she won’t make him wait too long for an answer.

Chelsea appears behind Theo at the bar and pretends she’s just noticing him when he gets off the phone. They start flirting instantly, and Chelsea apologizes for shooting Theo down when he tried to send her a drink last time she was there. Chelsea’s willing to let Theo make it up to her by buying her a drink right now.

At Devon Hamilton’s (Bryton James) penthouse, he assures Elena Dawson (Brynt Sarpy) that what she heard about his love for Hilary Hamilton (Mishael Morgan) was a reaction to the DNA twin confirmation. On Thursday’s Y&R episode, Elena suggests it was like Devon was looking into Hilary’s eyes again.

Amanda gets choked up over standing in her sister’s home. She can picture Hilary coming down the stairs happy and in love – her whole life ahead of her. Elena wants to talk to Devon alone, so she pushes Amanda to leave. She doesn’t think Amanda understands what this is doing to Devon right now.

Amanda’s sorry if she was insensitive, but Devon says there’s no need to apologize. He just thinks he’s said enough. Amanda hopes they can get together another day to look at old photos or maybe letters.

Elena pipes up that Devon just told Amanda he’d said all he was going to say, so she wants Amanda to respect that. “I’ve told you everything I can,” Devon insists.

After Amanda leaves, Devon tries to explain his earlier comments about Hilary. Elena thinks Amanda cross-examined Devon into admitting what he couldn’t say to Elena – what they’ve been dancing around since they first got together. Devon insists that Hilary is his past and Elena’s every bit as important to him.

Elena argues she isn’t taking away Devon’s feelings for Hilary and couldn’t if she tried. Elena also doesn’t blame Amanda for wanting to know about Hilary, but she feels Devon has done enough.

She doesn’t want Amanda coming back looking for more. Devon agrees that Amanda can figure out the rest, and they can move on with their lives.

At Crimson Lights, Mariah Copeland (Camryn Grimes) gripes over the cranky cappuccino maker until Lola advises to reboot it. Mariah’s grateful when it works, and they establish that they could both use a friend right now.

Lola doesn’t want to talk about Theo, so she asks how Mariah’s doing after Sharon Newman’s (Sharon Case) setback.

Mariah admits she’s a “hot mess” sometimes and would be bouncing off the walls if it weren’t for Tessa Porter (Cait Fairbanks). After Mariah opens up about her struggles to be Sharon’s cheerleader and more, Lola insists Mariah’s a good daughter.

Mariah swings the conversation back to Theo, which Lola isn’t thrilled about.

Lola confesses that sometimes Theo will do something that throws her off and she’ll overreact. Although Lola thinks maybe she should give Theo a pass, Mariah warns Lola should listen to her gut if it’s telling her something’s wrong.

Lola’s instincts aren’t great lately, but her eyes are wide open when it comes to Theo – though she’s set the bar pretty high when it comes to him.

Mariah thinks the best deserves the best. “Hey, at least he hasn’t cheated on me, right?” Lola says. “That you know of!” Mariah replies. Mariah warns about Theo’s shady side, but Lola thinks he can also be warm, funny and unpredictable. Lola gets what Mariah’s saying, but she still really likes Theo.

After Adam returns to his motel room to gather up his things, Chance Chancellor (Donny Boaz) shows up. Adam tells Chance that he worked it all out with Chelsea and is going home. He thanks Chance and makes it clear that he wasn’t having an affair with Sharon.

Chance brings up Vegas, so Adam says he’s made arrangements to make it all go away – that’s all Chance needs to know. Chance refuses to let Adam leave until he gets real answers. Adam would prefer to look forward, not back.

Chance insists Vegas is a current problem, not something in their rearview mirror. Adam warns Chance not to push him, but Chance thinks Vegas is deeper and darker than what happened when Adam was a scared kid in Kansas.

Adam wants Chance to back off, but Chance doesn’t like the idea of crossing more lines. Adam warns that it’s already too late for that.

Back at Chance Comm, Amanda fills Billy in on the twin situation and her new issues with Devon. Billy responds with compassion, so Amanda lashes out and warns Billy about respecting boundaries.

However, Amanda settles down and admits she’s never needed a friend more in her life. Billy wants to be that for Amanda.

Amanda opens up about how hard it’s been to confirm Hilary’s her sister and have her already be gone. “My heart feels so full and so sad at the same time,” Amanda admits.

Since things are weird with Devon and Elena, Billy points out that a lot of other people in town knew Hilary. Billy’s confident they can dig around and help Amanda learn everything she wants to know about her twin.

At Society again, Chelsea asks Theo if he’s willing to be the social media liaison for the fashion company she’s trying to get up and running. Theo can’t since he’s exclusive to Chance Comm, so Chelsea acts impressed.

Theo suggests he could get some stories run for Chelsea, so she thinks it’s like fate brought them together.

Lola peeks around the corner and looks ticked off over the apparent flirting. When Chelsea asks about a tour of the headquarters, Theo can make time for her. They head out together as Lola glares. Mariah arrives for takeout, so Lola admits she was an idiot and Mariah was right.

Lola mentions Theo and Chelsea’s flirting, but Mariah notes that Theo’s a funny guy. Maybe he just made Chelsea laugh. Mariah’s doubtful that anything is going on, but Lola contends that Chelsea and Theo left together.

Lola doesn’t know what’s real flirting and what’s for work since that’s apparently part of Theo’s job. Lola just isn’t sure how much longer she can put up with this.

At Chance Comm, Chelsea’s grateful for the tour and pretends to be parched. Theo dashes off for water while Chelsea plants a listening device on the back of a lamp. Billy appears when Chelsea turns around. “What’s going on here?” Billy asks in Thursday’s Young and the Restless episode.

Back at Adam’s motel, he insists he doesn’t have to tell Chance anything. Chance doesn’t have a badge. Adam learns Chance has a job offer to join the GCPD, so whatever’s left of this friendship will take a backseat to the law. “Fair warning…that goes both ways,” Adam says before sauntering out.
