The Young and the Restless Spoilers Update: Wednesday, December 9 – Victoria Stabs Phyllis in the Back – Abby Picks Baby Names

The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers update for Wednesday, December 9, teases that Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) isn’t pleased about the new article that’s been published, which sings Victoria Newman’s (Amelia Heinle) praises. “Seriously?! What. A. Joke!” Phyllis says.

Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) enters Phyllis’ suite and notices her outrage. Phyllis is surprised Victoria can walk with all that smoke being blown up her skirt.

Nick thought Phyllis and Victoria patched things up, but Phyllis says it’s not going to last. Either Phyllis goes or Victoria goes – and Phyllis makes it clear it won’t be her.

At Newman Enterprises, Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) walks in as Victoria wraps up a phone conversation, which gives a quote about Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) to a reporter.

Victor thinks Victoria should be careful about those quotes in case her words come back to bite her. It won’t be a good look for Victoria or the company if Billy is found guilty.

Victoria stands by Billy’s innocence, but Victor is worried about his daughter and the possibility that she’ll have to sit her kids down to explain why Daddy is going to prison.

At The Grand Phoenix, Jill Abbott (Jess Walton) doesn’t look happy as she approaches Billy in the lobby. “Mom?” a confused Billy says. “You idiot!” Jill declares.

On the island in Wednesday’s Y&R episode, Abby Newman (Melissa Ordway) canoodles with Chance Chancellor (Justin Gaston) in bed. They opted to skip changing their plans and heading off to Bora Bora.

Chance and Abby feel like the staff really came through by fixing the leaky roof and getting them an actual bed.

It’s their last night before the honeymoon wraps up, so Abby wants to do something very special. Chance throws out some romantic ideas, so Abby says she wants to do them all plus one more thing. After Chance tries to guess what it is, Abby admits she’d like to talk about what their life will be like back home.

At Lola Rosales (Sasha Calle) and Elena Dawson’s (Brytni Sarpy) apartment, Elena battles doubts about going on her date with Nate Hastings (Sean Dominic). She feels she’s on the rebound, but Lola pushes Elena to live in the moment and enjoy her “Nate date.”

Over at Devon Hamilton’s (Bryton James) penthouse, Lily Winters (Christel Khalil) defends Billy. Devon insists that people don’t usually get arrested for attempted murder without evidence, but Lily says sometimes they get it wrong – and this is one of those times.

Talk turns to Devon and Nate’s fractured bond. Lily feels things will mend in time, but Devon suggests saving her optimism for Billy.

Devon is surprised that Lily is so convinced of Billy’s innocence. Lily says she’s sure and points out she’s been to prison. She’s seen the lies people tell about their crimes.

Devon says sometimes we ignore the faults of people we care about. “I think you should cut ties with Billy before he gets convicted and takes you down with him,” Devon warns. Lily gets upset as they argue and eventually decides she should go.

Back in Phyllis’ suite, she’s insulted by Victoria’s micromanaging. Phyllis doesn’t want to put Nick in the middle, but he says he’s made it very clear to Victoria that if push comes to shove, he’s on Phyllis’ side.

They rehash the situation with Faith Newman (Alyvia Alyn Lind) and her drinking. Phyllis is worried that they didn’t really resolve their issues.

Nick assures Phyllis that he’s not holding a grudge. Phyllis is feeling insecure because things are so good in their relationship. “Don’t worry about us, all right? We’re fine,” Nick promises.

He wants to help Phyllis deal with the hotel since it’s stressing her out. Nick doesn’t want Phyllis to lose her hotel and convinces her to let him talk to his sister.

In Victoria’s office again, she implies that Victor might’ve been the one to set Billy up. “I did not frame ‘Billy Boy’ Abbott!” Victor declares. Framing someone isn’t Victor’s preferred mode of retribution.

When Victor brings up Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) leaving town, Victoria insists Adam isn’t going anywhere anytime soon and updates Victor on her run-in with her brother.

Victoria adds that she’s 100-percent sure Billy wasn’t the shooter. As Victor exits, he says that whatever happens, he’ll be there for Victoria and the children. In The Grand Phoenix lobby, Jill admits she told Lily she’d like to put Billy on a plane to Samoa.

Billy says Jill knows he has to stay and fight this. It breaks Jill’s heart that she can’t stay and fight with Billy.

One son needs Jill in the U.S. and another needs her in Australia. Jill talks about Philip Chancellor III developing an infection following his surgery after appendicitis. Billy understands and pushes Jill to go.

Jill begs Billy not to get cocky or careless – and don’t get on anyone’s bad side that he might need. Jill adds that Billy should listen to his lawyer and lets him know she loves him more than life itself.

Next, Amanda Sinclair (Mishael Morgan) goes off on Billy for lying to her and the cops. Now there’s a witness that can place Billy at the crime scene. Billy insists that doesn’t matter since he didn’t do it.

“So what?” Amanda gripes. All Amanda cares about are the facts – and Billy already set her back so much. Amanda can’t be Billy’s lawyer if he’s not going to tell the whole truth no matter what.

Billy asks if he needs a new lawyer, but Amanda warns that he’s on probation with her. She’s not dropping Billy as a client, but he can’t be casual with information just because they’re friends.

To ensure that this doesn’t happen again, Amanda contends that they’re not friends – not until the case is thrown out or Billy is declared not guilty. They’re just attorney and client for the time being.

“Maybe we can be friends again when this is all over, but that’s gonna be up to you,” Amanda says before sauntering out.

On the island again, Chance notes that Chloe Mitchell (Elizabeth Hendrickson) and Kevin Fisher (Greg Rikaart) are planning on moving out of the Chancellor mansion with Miles Fisher and Esther Valentine (Kate Linder). Abby agrees to move in the Chancellor mansion once they return home.

There’s still one more issue to sort out – and that’s Abby’s last name. Chance doesn’t mind since Abby’s name won’t change how he feels about her. Abby loves both her families and shares all the good qualities she’s inherited. Chance’s family has also been so welcoming.

“So I have decided to go all in…Abby Newman Abbott Chancellor!” Abby declares. Chance laughs since “it’s a lot,” but he’s touched that Abby has chosen to include his name.

Abby wonders if in nine months, they’ll have another reason to remember their honeymoon. It’d be nice to expand their family in the first year of marriage.

At Society, Nate greets Elena and lets her know she looks amazing. After Nate admits he’s nervous, Elena chuckles since they’re both scared of a dinner. Nate thinks maybe tonight will be less awkward if they treat it like a real first date – like they’re just meeting each other.

They share a laugh after pretending they’re just finding out they’re both doctors.

Elena tells a story about an adorable kid who was a patient of hers. It’s a story Nate recognizes, but he loves the way Elena tells is. She guesses that’s something that doesn’t normally happen on a first date.

Devon appears, so Nate hints that it’s something else that doesn’t happen on a first date. Devon looks somber as he tells the staff he’s there to pick up a to-go order.

Nick meets up with Victoria at Society and isn’t surprised to learn Adam is still hanging around town. Talk turns to Billy and Nick’s concerns. Nick notes that there have been a lot of innocent people convicted, including him. He just wants Victoria to know he’ll be there for her no matter what happens.

Nick eventually admits he wants to find a way to get Phyllis out from under Victoria’s thumb. He feels like getting rid of this hotel will take one thing off Victoria’s plate – then Victoria won’t have to deal with Phyllis anymore. “You know what, maybe you’re right. Maybe there is a way to fix this,” Victoria hints.

Nick ends up back in Phyllis’ suite and offers the latest news. He thinks Victoria is open to his idea and seems hopeful that The Grand Phoenix will become Phyllis’ hotel again.

Meanwhile, Victoria talks to someone over the phone about how Phyllis is more trouble than she’s worth. This was never meant to be a long-term solution, so Victoria thinks they need to make some changes.

The plan is the same as the day Victoria took over the controlling shares. She intends to push Phyllis out and sell the hotel at a premium price. “Sorry, Nick,” Victoria says after she hangs up.

At Chancellor Communications, Lily checks her texts and sees one from Jill that asks her to look after Billy. Once Lily enters the office, she’s surprised to see Billy sitting on the sofa.

Billy didn’t think Lily would be there and left a rose on her desk. Lily is pleased and wonders when Billy became such a romantic. Billy feels like Lily inspires him.

After a swim in the lagoon, Abby tells Chance they have eight hours left of their honeymoon. Chance wants to pass the time talking baby names. Abby isn’t keen on Chance’s choices of Agatha and Dashiell. She doesn’t think she can inflict the name Agatha on their daughter!

Dash might be cute, but only if they call him by his nickname.

Chance is more open to Abby’s ideas of Cary for a boy or Diana for a girl. Abby notes that if they did get into a fight, they’d have an amazing time making up. Chance pretends to take a harder stance on his name choices and leans in to kiss Abby.

Back in Genoa City, Nate assures Elena that he’s got the check. Elena can get it next time. “There will be a next time, right?” Nate wonders. Elena admits he sort of panicked seeing Devon again, but she won’t use this as an excuse not to go on another “Nate date.”

Once Nate goes to get their jackets, Lola gives Elena a double thumbs up behind the bar.

Devon returns home and looks glum before he calls Amanda to come over. He got way too much takeout, so Amanda agrees to help finish it.

After Amanda disconnects and heads for the door, she stops to check a text from Michael Baldwin (Christian LeBlanc). Michael wants to meet with Amanda and her client tomorrow, so Amanda texts back to name the time and place.

Back with Billy on Wednesday’s Young and the Restless episode, Lily notes that the cops aren’t going to keep investigating now that Billy’s been arrested. Billy assumes Amanda has a private investigator on that, but Lily doesn’t think that’s enough.

The PI is only looking for holes in the case; he won’t try to find out who the shooter is. Lily thinks they have a lot of tools to look into this themselves, so Billy says he’s “so in.”

The Young and the Restless spoilers say some curveballs are still to come for Billy, so stay tuned to Y&R. CDL’s where you want to be for hot Young and the Restless spoilers, updates and news.
