The Young and the Restless Spoilers: Y&R Could Resume Production June 12 – New California Film & TV Guidelines Revealed

The Young and the Restless spoilers say there’s some big news to report about when The Young and the Restless could finally resume new Y&R episode production. Governor Gavin Newsom has released guidelines for restarting the film and television industry in the state of California. Newsom gave a press conference at noon on Friday, June 5, but he ended up delivering those guidelines later in the day instead.

Here’s what the guidelines reveal. The California Department of Public Health insists that film, TV and music production may resume in California – but they’re recommending a return to production no sooner than June 12. It also has to be approved by public county health officers following a review of “local epidemiological data.”

They’ll be looking at things like how prepared they are for health care surges locally and the rate of test positivity along with the number of COVID-19 cases per 100,000. Cast, crew and other industry workers will have to follow all the safety protocols, which undoubtedly involve social distancing and all the proper testing to prevent any spread.

However, Deadline also reports that L.A. County may not be included in reopening production just yet. Hospital capacity is a factor that’ll have to be looked at, especially since there was a spike in cases on the day these guidelines were presented.

Los Angeles County Public Health Director Barbara Ferrer made a statement to clarify where things stand. “This has been a slight increase over the last three days in the number of people hospitalized and we’ll need to make sure that we’re not starting to see a significant increase in the number of people requiring hospitalizations,” Ferrer said.

Another health official pointed out that more hospitalizations could indicate that transmission has increased, so the number of hospitalizations could continue to rise in the coming weeks based on their model.

Newsom and Ferrer have discussed the possibility of opening some part of L.A. county sooner than others, so that’s something else to consider.

There’s been buzz about the Y&R cast and crew undergoing preliminary testing ahead of a potential return to production. That June 12 recommendation in the guidelines is worth noting, although there are those possible snags we mentioned as well.

Eric Braeden (Victor Newman) has at least been getting himself camera ready with a new haircut! The Young and the Restless actor showed off his fresh look on Twitter, so there are positive signs about Y&R’s comeback. As other Y&R news rolls in, we’ll bring you more updates.
