Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers tease that the new EJ DiMera has big shoes to fill! James Scott was incredibly popular in the role, but he’s done with Hollywood and has been adamant about never returning to Days.
With that in mind, DOOL finally moved forward with a recast – and the timing is perfect since Sami Brady DiMera (Alison Sweeney) is on canvas for a lengthy stint.
Of course, Days of Our Lives spoilers haven’t confirmed who’ll be playing the new EJ just yet. However, we should discuss some buzz that’s going around and try to nail down the truth.
There’s been some speculation that Daniel Goddard (ex-Cane Ashby on The Young and the Restless) might’ve been tapped as an EJ replacement. Let’s talk about where that speculation started and why.
At first, it was just based on wishful thinking articles and Daniel Goddard’s willingness to play EJ if given the chance. Later, Goddard followed a ton of Days stars on Instagram, which some people viewed as a sign that Goddard would be stepping up as the new EJ.
That may or may not be true, but it’s worth noting that Goddard also followed just as many stars of General Hospital and The Bold and the Beautiful. Goddard even followed a few of his old Young and the Restless stars that he hadn’t previously been following.
In other words, it wasn’t a move that related solely to Days. It seemed more like it was about networking and following a bunch of people in the soap industry. If we’re going to judge on Instagram follows alone, Goddard could just as easily have gotten a job at GH or B&B.
That said, Goddard would be a well-known name – and it wouldn’t be that hard for him to tweak his Australian accent to become a British one. Days could even ignore it and simply let EJ be Australian now.
Goddard might not be a great fit as EJ, but it wouldn’t be the first time a soap tried to make it work anyway.
Naturally, there are plenty of British actors out there who could slide in EJ’s place. Aiden Turner (ex-Aidan Devane on All My Children) is another former soap actor who’s gained support as a possible EJ recast.
Turner’s name has been tossed around for years since he’d look and sound the part. We’ll mention that one of Turner’s most recent Instagram follows is Nadia Bjorlin (Chloe Lane), so you never know.
Whatever the case, Days of Our Lives spoilers will eventually confirm the identity of the new EJ DiMera, so we’ll all be waiting for updates on this huge news!
