Tonight’s episode begins with day 25, 340 days till opening. We see John Dorie Sr. who is hunkered down with June in a horror bunker six feet underground , they are drinking and playing the board game Life to keep busy. It’s repetitive, the same day, after day the same thing. Dorie Sr. speaks on his radio hoping that somebody will answer. Once night, Dorie Sr. seethe spice rack fall over and the roof of their bunker vibrating, June asks him if everything is ok and he says it looks like there is another room. Dorie Sr. tears apart the wall separating them and the other room, they find various tools and Dorie Sr. says it is where “he” killed all those women.
June tells him he should close up the wall, he says no, he wants answers. June doesn’t think their discovery is going to solve anything. He says “he” mortician Teddy Maddox killed 23 women but they only found 22 women, his last victim, Cindy Hawkins, he finally admitted he killed her but he never found her body. He made a promise to her mother that he would find her body, maybe now he will find her.
They both head to bed and it is lights out but Dorie Sr. keeps hearing some noises. He heads back into the other room and reads some newspaper clippings, when he hears a noise he calls out to June, she is ok. He continues to hear strange noises and heads up a ladder to a hatch and shouts out if there is anyone up there. He finds some gear, including a mask and heads up outside through the hatch. He finds a knife, looks at it and recognizes it as belonging to Dakota. He takes the knife and kills a walker, what we are to believe is Dakota. He see a women, that grabs on to him, June comes out of the hatch and shoots her, she shouts to him to come inside when we see three other people in masks standing to the far right of him.
Down in the bunker, June checks over Dorie Sr. to see if he was but and he only has a scratch. He says he heard her, she was calling him, the girl he never found. He heard a voice and he went up, she was there plain as day. She asks him if he is sure he didn’t hit his head. He goes on to tell her that he put Dakota out of her misery. He asks her if he has been drinking without her knowing, he says half a bottle day, whatever he could fine.
She checks his hands, they are shaking. Dorie Sr. turns on the radio and a man says they know they are in there, let them in and they hear them trying to get in. June is securing the hatch when Dorie Sr. thinks he hears something on the other side of the room. He heads in there and sees a women tied up, she tells him to hurry up, he will come back, she tells him this is not happening now. Fast forward to the present and Dorie Dr. pulls gun on June when she walks in, she asks him what is going on.
She tells him that a lot of people find out that medication helps with what he is going through and there is some in the first aid kit. Dorie Sr. says no. June boards up the other room, she thinks it will help Dorie Sr. with what he is going through.
Dorie Dr. wakes up, he sees Cindy Hawkins above him, but he is only dreaming. June wakes up to finding Dorie Sr. tearing apart the barrier that she built and he is frantic. She stabs Dorie Sr. with a needle and says she should have done it before. Dorie Sr. wakes up, he imagines that he sees Cindy Hawkins who tells him that June drugged him like Teddy drugged her, she tells him to help her and then help June. Dorie Sr. is inside the room, he thinks he is helping Cindy Hawkins when June comes to and tells him that he needs to rest. She begs him not to go up outside, he tells her that if she doesn’t want to leave, she doesn’t want to leave, she doesn’t have to. He says he is going out there to get Cindy Hawkins, he can put her to rest, he will come back to get her. She begs him one last time not to go.
Dorie Sr. is outside, he has a map with him that shows where he thinks Cindy Hawkins’ body is located. June is still in the bunkard. Dorie Sr. sees three people in suits, they look like they have breached the bunkard, Dorie Sr. starts shooting at them. He struggles as he still hears Cindy Hawkins voice and he struggles with her vs June. Dorie Dr. shouts that Cindy Hawkins is not real as he fights with his demons. Meanwhile, in the bunkard, one masked person makes It in, but Dorie Dr. returns just in time to shoot him. They end up finding Cindy Hawkins body in the wall, June tells Dorie Sr. that she is at rest. He then tells June that he knows that she doesn’t want to go up there, but she doesn’t have a choice.
We then see June and Dorie Sr., they are no longer underground, someone heard them on the radio and help rescued them the dirt caved in. They are in a hotel room of sorts, Strand walks in and Dorie asks if he thinks they are going to join him after what he did to Morgan at the sub. Strand says he did what he did, he is there and Morgan is out there.. Dorie’s Sr. asks who are the people in the gas masks, Strand asks like he doesn’t know and says they can figure it out together. Strand tells him to rest, he will be giving him a grand tour. Strand leaves, Dorie Sr. says they can’t stay there – them they both look out the window at all the walkers and June says leaving is not an option.
Strand is on the walkie talkie with Morgan, he tells him that he is going to rebuild the world without him. Morgan says if he hurts anyone that he cares about he will come after him just like he did on the submarine, but he won’t miss. Strand says bring it.
