General Hospital Spoilers: Friday, April 23 Recap – Jason Comforts Britt, Carly Appalled - Jax Stunned Seeing Sonny

General Hospital (GH) spoilers recap for Friday, April 23, reveals that Cyrus Renault (Jeff Kober) bumped into Carly Corinthos (Laura Wright) at GH and taunted her now that he had his mother back.

Cyrus suggested that he was no longer preoccupied with Florence Grey’s (Annie Abbott) safe return, so he wondered whatever would he do with all that free time!

Meanwhile, Britt Westbourne (Kelly Thiebaud) got some lab results and ranted about how they were too late since the 17-year-old patient was already dead of a drug overdose.

Based on the findings, Britt realized the same chemical compound was found in Cyrus’ drug and figured that drug had hit the streets.

Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) was wheeled off the elevator, so Britt immediately seemed concerned. Although Jason insisted he was fine, Britt didn’t think so considering he got stabbed!

After an examination, Britt told Jason he’d be OK and argued that she thought Jason could take care of himself at Pentonville.

Jason could tell Britt was stressed, so she opened up a bit – and Jason could see that her hands were trembling. After Jason touched Britt’s hands to steady them and offer comfort, Carly walked in and gave them an appalled look. “Excuse me?!” Carly said upon entering.

Britt and Carly bickered, but Jason did his best to keep the peace. After Britt mentioned the 17-year-old boy’s OD seemingly being connected to Cyrus’ drug, Jason suggested she should try to get proof as part of their takedown.

Once Jason was alone with Carly, he ripped into her for having him stabbed in the slammer. Carly was sorry, but she felt it was the only way. She wanted Jason to be at the meeting of the five families and thought he could run Sonny Corinthos’ (Maurice Benard) organization from a safe house.

Jason doubted he’d be much use as a fugitive and suggested it wasn’t too late to go back to Pentonville. He felt like he and Shawn Butler (Sean Blakemore) could watch each other’s backs, but Carly refused since she needed Jason on the outside.

Carly also shut down the idea of sending Jason to Sonny’s island and insisted they were going to clear Jason’s name.

Meanwhile, Jordan Ashford (Briana Nicole Henry) showed up to grill Shawn about the stabbing, which he claimed was self-defense. Jordan was suspicious and wondered what was really going on.

They had a tense conversation since Jordan didn’t tell Shawn about TJ Ashford’s (Tajh Bellow) kidnapping. It led to a deeper discussion about Jordan lying about TJ’s biological father for so long.

Jordan was surprised to learn Shawn visited his bio dad monthly. She got Shawn to admit that he loved TJ like a son long before he knew the truth. Shawn didn’t think it would’ve been possible to love TJ any more, so Jordan couldn’t say she regretted her actions since TJ had two fathers who loved him.

Jordan decided there’d be no charges, but she warned Shawn to steer clear of Renault’s people. Shawn insisted he would do whatever he had to do to protect his family.

Back with Cyrus, he found Britt snooping regarding his drug on the hospital computer. Britt covered, but Cyrus didn’t seem to buy it.

Afterward, Britt went back to Jason with news about the drug trial data. She confirmed it was a 95-percent match to the OD drug, so Cyrus’ dangerous drug had indeed hit the streets.

When Britt tried to log on the GH computer again later, she found that her access had been denied.

Cyrus found Carly in Jason’s hospital room, so he noted that Jason was looking quite robust for an assault victim. Cyrus ominously suggested that as long as Jason was in his hospital, he’d be well taken care of.

In Nixon Falls, a man wearing a bandanna over his face pulled a gun and intended to rob the firehouse dance of their raffle money. Sonny argued that it wasn’t worth risking prison over $100 or so, but the gunman told him to shut up. They got into a struggle, but Sonny gained control of the weapon.

Over with Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros), she tried to hustle Jasper “Jax” Jacks (Ingo Rademacher) away to avoid a Sonny sighting. Another gunman appeared and insisted they weren’t going anywhere.

Jax got into a struggle with him as well and told Nina to run. A shot rang out before Jax punched the guy, who lost consciousness.

Nina realized Jax had been shot in the shoulder right before he passed out. Sonny came over to check on Nina, who admitted this was a man from her past.

The paramedics ultimately put Jax on a stretcher and were headed to the clinic, so Sonny said he’d go with Nina. She quickly objected and one of the paramedics confirmed there was only room for one anyway.

Jax regained consciousness, but his vision was blurred a bit. General Hospital fans saw things from Jax’s perspective as Sonny came into view. Jax pointed and exclaimed, “What the hell?!” He then passed out before being taken to the clinic, but Nina looked nervous.

At the Quartermaine mansion, Valentin Cassadine (James Patrick Stuart) met with Brook Lynn Quartermaine (Amanda Setton) and had Martin Grey (Michael E. Knight) with him. Since the baby was coming soon, Valentin wanted to work out their terms.

Brook Lynn insisted on delivering the baby at a hospital in Bensonhurst, so Valentin said he’d make the accommodations. That left Brook Lynn flipping out over Valentin being at the hospital, but Martin pointed out it was a public place.

Brook Lynn didn’t have to allow Valentin in the delivery room, but she couldn’t keep him from being in the hospital itself.

A confrontation ensued as Valentin pointed out he had rights and wasn’t afraid of a costly court battle. Michael Corinthos (Chad Duell) stepped up to help Valentin and Brook Lynn find some common ground.

In the end, Valentin was willing to sign Brook Lynn’s ELQ shares back in exchange for a proper place in this child’s life. However, Valentin refused to move forward with that deal until after the baby’s birth. Once Brook Lynn was alone, she wondered where she was going to find a baby!

Friday’s GH episode also brought a discussion between Laura Collins (Genie Francis) and Martin, who revealed that Cyrus had cut him off from visiting Florence.

Martin noted how important family was to Cyrus, who still loved Florence despite being rejected for decades. He argued it was the reason he was being punished instead of killed.

Laura didn’t like the idea of bonding with the man who put Lulu Spencer (Emme Rylan) in a coma, but Martin suggested she shouldn’t shut Cyrus out. It might be a good strategy for keeping the peace.

Laura later got updates from Curtis Ashford (Donnell Turner), who was sad over his divorce and excited over his nightclub. Laura wanted to help Martin see his mother again, but Curtis felt like Cyrus would want something in return.

Molly Lansing-Davis (Haley Pullos) also told TJ that she had a job lined up as a junior ADA following graduation.

Molly wanted to shift her career focus to being a DA eventually, which TJ didn’t approve of. Molly argued that she no longer wanted to right the wrongs. Molly wanted to prevent them from ever happening at all by sparking a change within the system.

TJ felt the system was broken since Cyrus was free and Shawn was stuck behind bars for far longer than Alexis for the same crime. Molly convinced TJ that she could still be an activist on the inside, so he decided if anyone could spark change – it was Molly.
