General Hospital (GH) spoilers reveal that one ABC soap star, Kelly Thiebaud (Britt Westbourne), is being sidelined due to circumstances beyond her control – and she’s not happy about it!
Kelly Thiebaud recently spoke out on social media about a false positive test for COVID-19 that’s forcing her to take a short break from GH.
On Thiebaud’s Instagram stories and Twitter account, she filled fans in on what she was dealing with. Thiebaud’s first test came back negative before the second one delivered a positive result.
Although Thiebaud’s third and fourth tests also came back negative, that second false positive test still prevented her from working.
“LA county has rules that once a test says positive, even if it’s wrong and you test negative multiple times after, you can’t work for 10 days!” Thiebaud told a fan who pushed her to get tested somewhere else. The General Hospital actress noted that the other tests didn’t matter due to that one test error.
Thiebaud was excited to get back to work after having two and a half weeks off, but now she’s having to stay off set for another 10 days instead. Since Thiebaud feels like the rules need to be reevaluated, she sent some angry tweets to share her stance.
“Hey @lapublichealth @ericgarcetti y’all might want to revisit how your handling false positive Covid tests!” Thiebaud said. “Pretty Fe’d up that if some1 gets a false positive they can’t redo a test and instead have to follow protocols as if they are positive. i .e. Can’t work…”
In response to another fan who understood her frustration, Thiebaud admitted it felt like she was being punished for something she didn’t do. She insisted she has no symptoms and those later tests came back just fine, so this was really just a case of bad luck and a defective test.
Of course, this led some General Hospital fans to wonder if this meant a temporary recast would be needed. Fortunately, the answer is no.
When a viewer expressed hope that we wouldn’t have a temp Britt replacement, here’s what Thiebaud had to say: “no thankfully they are not replacing me. We are pushing all my scenes.” It’s great news that GH was able to juggle the schedule a bit and deal with this false positive bump in the road.
