General Hospital (GH) spoilers reveal that the role of Aiden Spencer (Enzo De Angelis) was recently recast, so will Lucky Spencer (Jonathan Jackson) return to Port Charles? This seems like a great opportunity for Lucky to reunite with Aiden and perhaps complicate Elizabeth Baldwin’s (Rebecca Herbst) love life.
Lucky has taken a lot of flak from GH fans who are disappointed in him as a dad. However, things have started to shift somewhat in recent years – at least off screen.
Aiden took a trip to Ireland and was able to connect with Lucky – though Franco Baldwin (Roger Howarth) was certainly more of a father figure before his death.
Sometimes recasts can be significant and point to new story directions. After all, the role of Spencer Cassadine (Nicholas Chavez) was recast and that laid the groundwork for plenty of drama.
Now that we’ve seen the new Aiden, we have to consider the possibility that Lucky might get back in the mix and come visit his son.
Aiden’s last name might serve as another clue about that since he’s going by his father’s name now. Instead of calling this recast character Aiden Webber like he’d gone by before, he’s become Aiden Spencer according to De Angelis’ IMDb page.
Could that point to a father-son reunion and a Spencer story down the road? Once Laura Collins (Genie Francis) returns this fall, she’s got a big story on the way.
There’s no word on what that story is, but most of us can agree it’d be nice to see Lucky finally show up to see his mother.
Of course, Liz might have concerns about Lucky waltzing in and out of Aiden’s life without warning.
It’d be easy for Aiden to get used to Lucky being around – only to say goodbye again after Lucky took off on his next adventure.
Nevertheless, Lucky might resolve to truly step up and be the father Aiden needs this time.
If GH brings in a Lucky recast who can stick around permanently, that could even set the stage for a Lucky and Liz couple reboot. Hamilton Finn (Michael Easton) might have some competition for Liz’s heart in that case!
On the other hand, Jonathan Jackson is a popular performer and the first choice of many fans when it comes to who plays Lucky.
If the show can lock Jackson in for a return – no matter how brief – they might be eager to take advantage of it.
