General Hospital (GH) spoilers reveal that Roger Howarth’s (ex-Franco Baldwin) new character will be connected to a prominent Port Charles family, so fans can expect his debut to bring some great summer drama. Howarth is set to appear again by the end of May, so viewers are certainly eager to see who he’ll be playing and how he’ll fit in the canvas.
The latest General Hospital spoilers confirm that Howarth is indeed playing a new character, which means Franco is dead and gone. It’s possible it’ll just be a new role to Howarth, but it sounds more like it’ll be a newly created role in general.
In other words, this sounds like a truly fresh character and not a recast.
Of course, long-lost family members get invented all the time on soaps. This PC family connection could mean that one of the major clans in town will get a surprise relative.
It’s also possible this connection will come into play another way, but it makes sense to give Howarth’s character blood ties to an important family in Port Charles. That’ll make it easier for this guy to establish some new bonds and find people to interact with.
Naturally, the prominent families that come to mind when you think about PC are ones like the Quartermaines, the Cassadines and the Corinthos clan.
However, there’s been a lot of drama related to the five families lately – and that opens the door to some other prominent Port Charles fams.
Back in April, there was a leaked script that pointed to a character named Vincent “Vince” Novak being introduced to the canvas.
It seemed like the show was on the hunt for another actor through casting sides, but they may have just decided to slide Howarth in that role instead.
The Novaks would still be considered a prominent Port Charles family, so that’s something to keep in mind.
There’s a clip in the preview video for the Wednesday, May 26 episode that could line up with Vince cornering Spinelli (Bradford Anderson) for tech help – just like in the leaked script. Spinelli seems surprised by someone that he greets in an alley, so Vince Novak could be lurking in the shadows.
Regardless, it’s nice to have confirmation that Howarth’s new character will have a prominent Port Charles family connection. That’ll hopefully give Howarth some staying power in his next role!
