General Hospital (GH) spoilers tease that Ava Jerome Cassadine (Maura West) may come to regret taunting and testing Ryan Chamberlain (Jon Lindstrom). In the December 7 episode, Kevin Collins (Jon Lindstrom) offers updates on Ryan’s locked-in syndrome.
The doc compares it to a stroke and suggests that Ryan has been left almost completely paralyzed by his condition.
Ava wonders if Ryan’s in a vegetative state, but Kevin clarifies that’s not quite the case. He points out that Ryan can still see and hear, but he’s essentially trapped in his own body now. Ryan can think and is still the same man in his own brain, but his body can’t respond the way it used to.
This leads Ava to steal a moment alone with Ryan – just so she can touch his hand, move in close and see what his reaction looks like. Ava can see that she’s having an effect on Ryan based on the look in his eyes, so she takes it a step further by digging her fingernails into Ryan as hard as she can.
Since Ryan doesn’t flinch over Ava’s move, she takes it as a sign that his locked-in syndrome is real or the result of some masochistic strength he’s developed. However, GH fans know how crafty Ryan can be. Ryan is a master manipulator – and he’s managed to fool everyone yet again.
Ryan once again lets a slight smile curve on his lips privately in the December 7 episode. Just before Ryan’s transferred to a minimum-security facility, he gives viewers this huge hint that he’s faking – just as he did with his previous smirk.
Naturally, there are some good reasons for Ryan to act like he can barely move and is no longer a threat. This transfer is meant to be a temporary one until a firm decision can be made about Ryan’s long-term care, but the point is Ryan will be in a facility that doesn’t have much security.
The risk of Ryan escaping is high – particularly since no one will think he’s capable of it.
Ryan just has to keep his charade going for a while and await the perfect opportunity to make a break for it. Once Ryan inevitably makes his getaway, what’ll happen next?
Part of Ryan might be angry about Ava putting him to the test, but another part of him is no doubt turned on. Ryan has always liked that twisted side of Ava and probably wants her more than ever now.
Nikolas Cassadine (Marcus Coloma), on the other hand, is a different story. Ryan may be plotting to win back his feisty woman and murder Nikolas to get him out of the way. If Ava doesn’t cooperate, Ryan could try to kill her as well. If Ryan can’t have Ava, then no one can – at least that’s how he sees it!
General Hospital spoilers say Ryan will scheme at his minimum-security facility until his window of opportunity opens. Perhaps when the time comes for Ryan’s next more permanent transfer, he’ll use that as his chance to escape.
Then again, maybe Ryan’s shot will come along sooner if the guards aren’t paying attention. Ryan tends to have a few tricks up his sleeve, so we’ll see how he handles this in the coming weeks or months. As other GH news emerges, we’ll keep you in the loop.
General Hospital spoilers say some exciting twists and turns are ahead in Ryan’s storyline, so stay tuned. CDL will have all the terrific General Hospital spoilers, updates and news you need, so stop by frequently.
