General Hospital (GH) spoilers tease that Sam McCall (Kelly Monaco) and Austin (Roger Howarth) might have a chance at romance! Roger Howarth’s new character is clearly being shopped around to find the perfect match, so we can’t rule out Sam as an option.
When the show made the decision to kill off Franco Baldwin (Roger Howarth), they got rid of all his baggage, too. Sam’s horrible memories and history with Franco aren’t a factor now that she’s interacting with a brand-new guy.
The slate has been wiped clean with Howarth in this new role, so he can be paired up with lots of lovely ladies on canvas. That was no doubt a big part of the choice to have Franco murdered.
So many story and love interest options have opened up now that Howarth is playing someone else.
It’s been fun to watch Sam battle suspicions about Austin and let the PI side of herself dig for answers. Austin isn’t someone who rattles easily, so he seems amused by Sam’s curiosity more than anything.
We also saw Sam step up to come between Austin and Ava Jerome Cassadine (Maura West) at the Metro Court recently.
Sam was trying to spare Austin the trouble of getting involved with a messy, married woman. Of course, Sam could get involved with Austin herself at some point.
Even if it doesn’t turn into true love, why not let Sam and Austin hook up? It’d be worth a shot to see the full extent of Austin and Sam’s chemistry.
Cameron Mathison is set to make his debut as a Drew Cain recast down the road, so there’s also the potential for a Drew and Sam reunion.
That doesn’t mean Drew won’t have competition for Sam’s heart! GH could even go for an Austin, Sam and Drew love triangle if that’s how they wanted to take things.
Since Sam and Dante Falconeri (Dominic Zamprogna) haven’t exactly been a hit duo, the show might want to try something else for Sam.
Austin has interacted with other women like Ava and Maxie Jones (Kirsten Storms), so they could be love interest possibilities as well.
The point is the show’s doing some chem testing and trying to figure out the best romantic path forward for Austin.
