General Hospital (GH) spoilers reveal that a character of the past is headed back to the show. According to SOD, Sean Blakemore is set to reprise his role as Shawn Butler – and it appears he’ll be sticking around.
Blakemore has inked a deal, so it sounds like Shawn will get out of prison and return to the usual action in Port Charles.
Blakemore played the role of Shawn from 2011 to 2015 – and then stepped back in Shawn’s shoes briefly in 2016 as well. Many General Hospital fans have complained about Shawn spending so much time behind bars for a crime he didn’t even commit.
In Port Charles, most people don’t pay as much as Shawn’s paid for crimes they’re actually guilty of! It’s high time Shawn scored his freedom and came home.
Shawn was convicted for shooting Hayden Barnes (Rebecca Budig) and sentenced to this lengthy stint at Pentonville, but it seems he’s all set to get out of the slammer and rejoin society.
Since Shawn is Jordan Ashford’s (Briana Nicole Henry) ex, these two might have a chance to rekindle things romantically. That’s especially true since Jordan and Curtis seem to be on the verge of divorce.
Jordan is currently growing closer to Marcus Taggert (Real Andrews), but maybe Jordan and Shawn are the couple GH writers intend to explore again moving forward.
Shawn is also TJ Ashford’s (Tajh Bellow) biological father, so that’s another connection that’ll bring some gripping material and complex family dynamics. There’s the potential for some exciting drama once Shawn’s back in the picture.
Blakemore is a talented actor who proved it when he walked away with the Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actor back in 2016. He’s certainly got plenty of fans who are thrilled about this huge news and eager to see Shawn on canvas again.
