General Hospital (GH) spoilers tease that Stella Henry (Vernee Watson) could be hiding a birth mother bombshell. Curtis Ashford (Donnell Turner) might be Stella’s secret son with Marshall Ashford (Robert Gossett), so we should talk about where things stand and how this could blow up Curtis’ world.
When Stella first saw Marshall again at The Savoy, she didn’t react like someone who was witnessing a man come back from the “dead.” Stella was indeed shocked, but she mostly seemed flustered over Marshall’s decision to resurface.
Although Stella behaved like she already knew Marshall was alive, he interrupted her attempt to explain things to Curtis on the December 14 episode. Marshall apparently covered for Stella, who seemed appreciative and urged Curtis to hear his father out in return.
There was a fondness between Marshall and Stella – almost like an old understanding between former flames. Stella obviously knew far more than she was letting on and alluded to everyone doing the best they could all those years ago.
It’s clear that Stella’s exhibiting much softer behavior than normal and appears to understand why Marshall had to stay away. Marshall mentioned the complex situation that would’ve had repercussions on the entire family and still might, so something deeper is going on here.
Marshall keeps frustrating Curtis with all these vague excuses, so why exactly is he being so vague? Could it be because Stella is actually Curtis’ mother, not his aunt?
Stella assured Curtis that she wouldn’t allow their family to be upended, which pretty much guarantees it’s going to blow up in a big way. The writers could easily do that by giving Stella this secret mom title.
Stella might’ve given birth to Curtis after cheating with her sister’s husband. Perhaps Stella initially convinced her sister to raise the baby – maybe even without revealing the true paternity.
That might’ve led to Marshall leaving after the affair truth ultimately came to light. There may have been more to the devastation of Curtis’ mom – or the woman he believed was his mom – than he realizes.
Of course, there was also some danger that seems to be related to the mob, but the point is Stella and Marshall are hiding something huge – something that could have a profound impact on the family.
Stella stepped up as a maternal figure for Curtis and his brother, but perhaps she was more than that. That maternal bond may be genuine if Stella turns out to be Curtis’ biological mother.
It’s an option to consider based on how Stella interacted with Marshall and how guilty she’s acting around Curtis. Stella is definitely keeping things under wraps with Marshall, so we’ll bring you updates as other GH news comes in!
