General Hospital Spoilers Update: Friday, July 16 – Nelle Problem Put to Rest – Chase Fights for Future – Phyllis Protects Nina

General Hospital (GH) spoilers update for July 16, teases that a Nelle Benson (Chloe Lanier) problem will be put to rest while Harrison Chase (Josh Swickard) faces a fight for the future. Phyllis Caulfield (Joyce Guy) will also protect Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros), so there’ll be a lot going on in Friday’s exciting GH episode.

Brando Corbin (Johnny Wactor) was able to deescalate the situation by the Metro Court pool and has the skills necessary to be beneficial to the Corinthos organization.

Carly Corinthos (Laura Wright) will think Brando’s ready to take on a bigger role and will hope Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) is on board.

However, Brando won’t be as willing to take a dangerous mob job – not after his next discussion with Sasha Gilmore (Sofia Mattsson).

Sasha will let Brando know she’s been pulling away due to mob concerns. That’s just not the kind of life Sasha wants her son or daughter to be around.

Brando had no clue Sasha was concerned about that, but he should understand where Sasha’s coming from.

Although Brando would like to be part of Sonny Corinthos’ (Maurice Benard) organization, he’d rather offer Sasha peace of mind and protect their baby.

Brando will show Sasha he’s all in on their family’s future during the week of July 19-23, so stay tuned.

In Manhattan, Anna Devane (Finola Hughes) will almost come face to face with Sonny, but it’ll turn out to be a near-miss.

Sonny won’t be spotted, so he’ll reconvene with Lenny Caulfield (Rif Hutton) and his doctor to see what the verdict is on his health.

Sadly, Lenny’s second opinion will probably be the same as the first. His heart is in bad shape – and there isn’t much that can be done about it at this point.

Sonny will soon dial Nina’s number to get her back to Nixon Falls, where she can support Lenny and Phyllis in person.

In the meantime, Phyllis should discover she’s talking to another ex of Nina’s – namely Valentin Cassadine (James Patrick Stuart).

We’ve seen Phyllis go off on Jasper “Jax” Jacks (Ingo Rademacher) before, but now it may be Valentin’s turn to get warned.

Phyllis will definitely toss some Nina-related threats around on Friday, but Valentin may assure her that he’s moved on and only wishes Nina happiness.

That’s true since Valentin is currently into Anna and hoping she’ll cave on pursuing a romance.

Nevertheless, Anna will have more pressing matters to attend to. She’ll hope to meet with David Hopkins, who was Peter August’s (Wes Ramsey) pilot and the brother of fake Chloe Jennings aka Marie Hopkins (Kimberly J. Brown).

It looks like Anna and David’s intriguing conversation will play out by Monday, July 19, but Friday’s episode should set the stage for some shockers.

Back in Port Charles, Nina and Willow Tait (Katelyn MacMullen) will have a productive visit.

There were some issues in the past due to the whole “real mommy” debacle, but Willow has moved beyond that hiccup. Nina knows better than to talk to Wiley about Nelle, so she may assure Willow that problem’s behind them.

Willow will want to embrace Nina as Wiley Quartermaine-Corinthos’ (Erik and Theo Olson) family and make her a big part of the boy’s life.

That should warm Nina’s heart – and terrify her since she’ll know it’ll all go away if her Sonny secret comes out.

Maxie will have a strange encounter on Friday before asking someone for help. She’s been lining up some favors before her Texas trip, so Sam McCall (Kelly Monaco) might be up next.

Sam will indeed be around and will have some nagging questions when it comes to Jason’s engagement to Carly.

Jason may wind up facing Sam’s grilling session before long, but let’s shift gears and talk about Austin Gatlin Holt (Roger Howarth) for a moment.

Austin isn’t afraid of the Quartermaine clan, so he won’t allow Monica Quartermaine (Leslie Charleson) to intimidate him.

Austin will have to balance being a respectful employee with a family member who wants what he’s owed.

At the Quartermaine mansion, Brook Lynn Quartermaine (Amanda Setton), Ned Quartermaine (Wally Kurth) and Michael Corinthos (Chad Duell) will all fret over Austin’s agenda.

Does Austin deserve a piece of the Quartermaine pie? A judge is set to decide, so it won’t really matter what Michael, Brook Lynn and Ned have to say about it!

There’ll also be more poolside scenes, including some featuring Chase and Dante Falconeri (Dominic Zamprogna).

Chase will only be able to take in some rays since he can’t use his legs right now, but Dante will work to keep his spirits up.

General Hospital spoilers state that Chase will struggle with his physical therapy in the coming episodes, but he won’t throw in the towel since he’s counting on a bright future with Willow.

Sadly, that’s a future Chase won’t get due to Willow’s secret love for Michael!

CDL will have other terrific General Hospital spoilers, news and updates, so check back often.
