In tonight’s New Amsterdam episode, Max is in a hearing regarding this daughter, Luna, his wife’s parents are suing him for custody. His mother-in-law says he chooses work versus his daughter. His father-in-law says they lost their daughter in his care, they are not losing their granddaughter too. Max says maybe they are right, maybe she is better off with them.

Iggy has the flu with a fever and is annoyed that he has to stay home another day. Lauren and Floyd are in the hospital, Floyd says he is spending time with a co-worker and it has become a situation, she is married – but it is an open marriage. The chemistry is insane, he can’t stop thinking about her. He is seeing her tonight and needs help on how to end it before he falls off a cliff. She tells him that this is what happened with them, before it gets great, he torches it. She tells him that he keeps ending at the cliffs, maybe it is because he really wants to jump.

A five-year-old girl comes into emergency, her name is Carrie and she might be rejecting her new heart. They rush her to surgery, she is not rejecting the heart, there is no evidence. Something else is causing her symptoms.

A man comes in, 80 years old, unconscious with high blood sugar. Lauren does an exam, the man appears to be speaking Russian. He has Dioxin in his bloodstream, he says “they” want him dead. A man shows up who says he is his son, the man says he doesn’t have a son. Casey is there, Lauren tells him to keep an eye on him.

Max is out of the hearing, he finds out that they have a thousand vaccines that they are going to throughout. Max doesn’t want to through them out, he wants to get a thousand people in there and give them the vaccines. Meanwhile, Iggy is still sick, he looks up and his patient, Chance, is in his house and tells him to please don’t be mad.

Max takes the vaccines, he is now down to four hours.

Mina shows up at the hospital, Helen introduces her to Alex Dorset, she is on the board at the hospital. Alex is also the undergraduate dean of Columbia University and when Helen mentions it, Mina walks away and is angry, she told Helen she didn’t want to stay in NY and she feels like she was ambushed.

Floyd speaks to Carrie’s parents, he tells them her lungs are filling up, they have started her on antibiotics. All of a sudden, Carrie spits up blood, her liver is failing.

Iggy is shocked, Chance tells him a restraining order was a little harsh. Iggy tells him that he needs to leave, and he can’t help him. Iggy gets up to get his cell phone, Chance tells him that he is going to help him, he needs him, he is not better and he promised that he would help him. His father promised not to hurt him and he did. When he cried he would call him weak and damaged goods and no one in the house would help him so that is why he did what he did. Iggy tells him that his family died in a fire that was set by accident.

Max is still trying to get rid of the vaccine.

Lauren speaks to the man who claims to be her patient’s son, he shows him his ID to prove that he is who he is. She brings him to his father, he is gone, Casey is gone as well.

Helen tells Floyd that their request to put Carrie on the transplant list was rejected. With multiple organs failing, they don’t see her as a candidate.

Iggy tells Chance that he wants him to get better. Chance says his whole family knew what he was doing and they still let him do it. Iggy tells him that he killed someone too.

Lauren finds Casey in the room with her patient. The patient tells her that he would rather die than go to a home, he doesn’t want to be a burden.

Carrie goes into respiratory arrest, they don’t know what is happening. Helen asks the parents if Carrie was six recently, it turns out she had E-coli and it changed her blood type.

By the time Max rounds up people for the vaccine, it expires.

Iggy tells Chance that the man he killed was Tobias, he was two years younger than him and the favorite. He was him, he could have cured cancer and it wasn’t enough for his father. Toby could do nothing wrong, he was the golden boy. It was prom night, Toby rented a limo, the whole show.

Iggy was watching TV when he came home, he was drunk, they teased him and laughed at him. He hated the way he treated him, especially in front of other people. He had had enough, he called out to his parents, to wake them up so they would catch him drinking. They came downstairs and were angry, Toby grabbed the car keys and ran back out drunk, he didn’t make it two blocks, he and his girlfriend went through the windshield, he died on the way to the hospital.

Iggy tells Chance that he needs to meet him in his office tomorrow, he will tell no one he was there, this will be between the two of them. Chance thanks him and leaves. Iggy can’t believe he made it out. Outside there are lights and police, Chance is caught.

Helen finds Max on the roof, he is looking at videos of Luna. She tells him to fight for her, Max says he feels like all he does is fight.

Carrie is going to be fine. Floyd goes to see his married woman, he tells her that knowing that she is with another man, he wants to let go and jump, but he can’t. He lets go of her hand and walks away.

Helen goes in to see Mina, she says she was right, they don’t know each other. She tells her that she doesn’t like to talk about herself, especially painful things. She hands Mina a photo of her grandfather, he died when Mina was three.

Iggy told a lie to Chance, his brother died in Iraq. Max goes to see his in-laws, he says he is not a perfect father, but he is a good father and their daughter would never want Luna to be without her dad. If they go to court, he will win, and they will never see Luna again. And, he doesn’t want that to happen. He is there to take her home.
