In tonight’s Sister Wives finale episode, the episode begins with Kody, he says that since COVID-19 hit they lost their film crew because they were afraid of getting exposed. They are now using their own phones and recording themselves. The pandemic has been going on for about seven weeks, he is the only one that has been going one by one to visit his wives.

The family decides because Hunter is there it has an outside picnic, they are all sitting six feet apart. Meri would have been happy just to not to be there. Hunter says he is not worried, he has tested negative. Kody says his doctor told him “do you want a child or not.” The only pure prevention from not having a child is not having sex. So, if you don’t want to get the disease you cannot interact with other people. Meri thinks it is a perfect analogy. Christine says she doesn’t have a problem with the family getting together. Robyn says she is still struggling that they are not taking advantage of this time.

Kody tells Hunter that if he wants to see everyone after his two weeks, it will increase the risk for everyone. Janelle has her children involved in social lives and Kody doesn’t think it is safe if they get together. Kody is even questioning if he should go house to house. Robyn says she is at high risk. Kody says if someone gets covid it will change their lives forever, it is like a concussion, it will change who you are. Kody doesn’t know what the virus is about and doesn’t know how deadly it is. Janelle is talking about Christmas, Kody tells her just to let’s see what happens before thinking that far.

Christine thinks polygamy makes things harder with covid. Janelle says she might as well pack up and go with Maddie for the summer. Robyn doesn’t think it is worth taking any risks. Hunter on the other hand wants to see everyone before he is called out on duty again. Janelle thinks covid could tear their one family culture apart. Christine thinks they should live in Utah right now, it makes perfect sense.

At Meri’s house, she says covid has changed everything in their lives, including how they document everything. Meri video calls Mariah and Audrey to check up on them and see how things are going. Meri says she is technologically illiterate. She doesn’t know half the time what she is doing with her phone. Meri asks how things are going at the bed & breakfast, they say it is chill. Meri says she is happy that they look like they are enjoying themselves.

Janelle talked to Christine and Robyn individually about their communication, she wants to change the way they communicate. Today, she is going to go talk to Meri about the same thing, to get everyone on the same page. Janelle says she wants to lay some ground rules for communication. Janelle says Meri always has these answers that are non-committal, she just wants to make sure she understands what she is trying to say. Meri thinks if they talk more face to face than in each other’s back, things will be better. Janelle wants to sit down, all together, to come up with rules for how they talk about things. Meri finds it is hard to talk about this because she is not in a husband and wife relationship with Kody.

Kody is driving to graduation, it is Aurora and Gwendolyn’s high school graduation. It is a drive-by, and it might be the first class that has ever graduated in their cars. Once graduation is over, Christine is taking the kids to Utah. Kody is frustrated that she is doing that because they will be around other people during covid and they are not supposed to be traveling. Kody doesn’t understand why she thinks it is ok to separate the family. Christine says things have been hard for her and Kody for years and a little distance is going to be ok. She doesn’t know what to do or how to fix it. Right now, she just wants to be around people who want to be around her and her girls, so that is why she is going.

Janelle is now bringing everyone together so they can figure out rules for conversation for the whole family. Meri is going into this open-minded but slightly guarded. Janelle says she really doesn’t have a plan. They are all together, Kody is there as well. Kody says he really doesn’t understand why they are there. He on the other hand only wants to talk about them protecting themselves from covid. Christine says she feels like she is not important and just a princess, and it is frustrating. Kody says he thinks everyone feels the same way.

Robyn asks Kody what he is going to write down, he says nothing because he doesn’t give a damn anymore. He doesn’t enjoy the relationship anymore because it is a constant fight. He says every time they get together and someone tries to express themselves, they get into these really dark places. He says there always seems to be this lack of respect for others. It is taking all of Christine’s self-control not to leave. Kody says she is cynical and in the depths of frustration, in polygamy hell. Meri says it is scary, to have their leader not care anymore. The family is falling apart.

Kody says he doesn’t see team Brown anymore. Christine reads them their mission statement, and it reminds them of better times. Meri just wants their family to get back to that and it gets really hard to think they may not get there. Christine says it is so much to come back together, it’s easier to be alone.

She read it, to inspire them to get back together. Christine says that after a conversation, she feels nauseous and has to lie down. Kody sees the family as an obstacle to his own goals. The five of them are not happy. Janelle says that is the most selfish thing she has ever heard. Christine really wants to talk to the family about moving back to Utah, but she is going to save it after she speaks to Kody alone.

Christine talks to Kody about moving back to Utah and he laughs, he says there is no way anyone is going to want to move back. Christine says one of the reasons she wants to go back is to be near her father. Kody is looking forward to Christine tell the rest of the family, then the spotlight won’t be on him. He says it is an exciting thought, he doesn’t think anyone will agree to it, but he is looking forward to the roller coaster it is going to cause. Kody says he feels like he sacrificed too much moving there.

Kody spends the day with Solomon, he is worried about his lack of social life because of covid. Their family has been struggling. Janelle is worried about the long-term effects on the children.

Kody says if he spends a week at Robyn’s house, he has a hard time enjoying himself because he is away from his other wives. He doesn’t know how much longer they can go on like this.

Kody arrives at Christine’s house, he wants to visit with her and the kids outside; they have been traveling, so he doesn’t want the exposure. Christine walks a fine line with covid, she knows Kody wants her to stay home, but she won’t, she has other kids she wants to see. Kody says he feels like a loser that nobody wants to be around. Christine talks about Ysabel’s surgery, she has scoliosis, her curve is over fifty degrees and she needs surgery. They have to be in New Jersey on a Monday, the surgery will be on a Wednesday, and they will be there for ten days. Kody asks why they can’t put this off until after covid.

Christine says the reason why is the pain level that Ysabel has to endure. Kody is against it, he says the constant exposure is dangerous. He says he is not going to New York. Christine says they can’t put this off anymore because of the pain Ysabel is going through. Kody asks if it will hurt to wait six months. Ysabel says the pain is bad and she doesn’t want to wait any longer. Christine is with her every single day, and it is already nine months after the time that Ysabel said she couldn’t take it anymore. Kody says if the surgery is in September, he is not going.

Christine says she is going to do what is right for Ysabel. Kody says he wants to do what is right for the whole family. Kody asks if they send Ysabel by herself. Christine is about to lose her mind at that suggestion, and he is really going to understand how stupid that was before she responds. Kody turns to Ysabel and asks her if she can do it in September and do it alone, wouldn’t it be better to wait six months and have him and Christine there. Ysabel starts crying, Christine tells her that she is not going alone, she would never do that to her. Kody finally realizes that he should not have said that – too late, Ysabel is crying and upset. Ysabel finally gives in and says they can wait, as long as it doesn’t get any worse. Ysabel gets up and asks her mom if she can leave, she is still crying.

Kody goes to visit Janelle and she tells him that she wants to go be with Maddie when Evie has surgery. Evie was born without some bones and one leg is six inches shorter than the other. Janelle is worried that she and Kody won’t see each other for two months because of overlapping schedules and Evie’s surgery. Kody doesn’t want her to go, but won’t say anything, because he knows she will go anyway and he will just spoil it for her. He tells her that he loves her, they will rekindle when they meet next, he gets up and kisses her, and leaves.

Christine calls a meeting with the wives and Kody. They meet outside, she talks about when they went to visit the Dargers, she says she felt normal with them. She says she didn’t want to go to Utah because of the law, she was afraid. And now, everything has changed, polygamy got decriminalized; they are fine with polygamy families living there now. She wants to move back, they have been there for two years and have done nothing. Christine said if they were going to do something on the property, it wouldn’t take two years and there is still nothing.

She is proposing that they not develop on this land, she is dreaming about Utah and wants to go back. In fact, if she was alone, she would be gone. Meri asks if Christine thinks that just because of a law change there are going to be no repercussions. The kids have had problems in both places. Janelle thinks Christine is just trying to make a case to move. Robyn says she would love to move back to Utah, but she has to think about the kids. Robyn says it is still an infraction, what if they change it again, what if some big shot gets in and makes it worse than it was before.

Janelle says she has nothing in Utah and her gut reaction is anger. Janelle says just because something changes doesn’t mean they pull stakes and run back. She doesn’t want to go back to Utah and live in some development. Meri thinks there is a big difference between her owning a business and taking care of her mother, and living in Utah. Kody says he is in a place where his kids love it where they are. Christine is surprised, Kody is acting like he is not in favor. Kody thinks the other wives are going to think that Kody put Christine up to this.

Christine says her heart is really in Utah, she thinks it is the most logical thought. Meri asks Christine if she is considering going regardless, Christine says she doesn’t know. Christine starts crying and says, “we’re not moving, are we?” Kody is not being supportive, he is acting like a parent and Christine doesn’t understand it. Christine says when they lived in Utah everyone said it was home, they loved the mountains and she thought they would feel the same as her. Robyn says it is home but it is not friendly, and she doesn’t feel comfortable doing that to her kids.

Meri gets up, takes Christine by the hand, and walks away with her. Meri tells Christine to look at the mountain, that is what she saw that day. Christine says it is not enough, Meri tells her to make it enough, she doesn’t get to give up like that, she is not a quitter. Christine says she doesn’t want it. Meri tells that she can’t say what she wants when she is hurting, she can’t be real.

Christine agreed to move to Flagstaff, but it has been a struggle the whole time. She is tired of feeling like she doesn’t matter and having no support. She needs a partnership, something different than this. What she has there, is not something she wants right now.

THE END!
