The Young and the Restless spoilers document that Abby Newman Abbott Chancellor (Melissa Ordway) had two dilemmas before her husband was suddenly called away by the Agency. Chance and Abby were trying to decide who should carry their child.
Mariah Copeland (Camryn Grimes) didn’t need much time to think. She quickly accepted Chabby’s’ surrogacy offer. But Chance Chancellor (last played by Donny Boaz) soon learned that his recent shooting prevented him from currently being able to father a child.
The life-altering phone call Chance received accomplished two plot goals. Chance’s need to leave town immediately enabled Boaz to be written out of the show. Chance then left his new wife, also leaving her with decision-making authority over their hoped-for baby plans.
Young And The Restless Spoilers – Nina Webster’s Reappearance Makes Additional Sense
Nina Webster (Tricia Cast) was written back into the show for the Chance and Abby wedding. That felt natural, as Nina is Chance’s mother and his father, Phillip Chancellor III (Thom Bierdz), was prevented from returning to Genoa City, Wisconsin, because he was battling a health issue.
Hardcore fans were glad to see Cast on the set again. She was a member of the ensemble during it’s glory days, with Nina being part of a number of Y&R’s more memorable arcs.
Having Nina return dovetail with Chance’s departure also allows Abby to lean on her mother-in-law for support. That’s worthwhile, as Eileen Davidson (Ashley Abbott) isn’t regularly in town and can’t provide in-person advice to her daughter.
Young And The Restless Spoilers – Devon Hamilton Joins The Effort
Devon Hamilton (Bryton James) grieved over the loss of the child he and Hilary Hamilton (Mishael Morgan) were going to have. That happened days before Hilary also died as a result of injuries suffered in a car accident.
The conversation between Mariah and Devon was fruitful, as he learned about the selfless offer his friend was making. James’ character also began considering his own involvement, while knowing what he’d personally lost in the recent past.
Like Mariah, Abby is a dear friend. So, it’s natural for Devon to want to become part of this process, considering Chance’s status and preapproval to seek a sperm donor. Involving two people Chabby knows would further a good storyline as well.
Young And The Restless Spoilers – Chance Chancellor Saving The World
Chance played the hero when he jumped in front of a gun that was fired at Adam Newman (Mark Grossman). Now, Chance has returned to a role fans are familiar with, as this character was said to be serving the greater good for many years while he was off-screen.
The right time for Chance to return would be when the baby is born, which could be by the end of this calendar year or sometime shortly thereafter. That assumes all goes smoothly with the surrogacy plans, which include Mariah and possibly Devon as well.
