Ashland’s small-cell lung carcinoma claims have always been iffy without hard evidence. Y&R fans know Ashland supposedly collapsed, but did he really?
It seemed more like Ashland just staged it so Victoria would find him like that. Ashland wouldn’t even get checked out at the hospital in the aftermath.
Now that Victoria has declared her love, Ashland has suddenly decided to pursue treatment.
Ashland was completely against it before, so we highly doubt this is just about Victoria’s love profession.
Instead, the time may simply be right for the next phase of Ashland’s scheme. This feels like a strategic move instead of something brought on by Ashland’s emotions.
Ashland conveniently held off on telling Harrison Locke (Kellen Enriquez) about his illness and thought it was a good thing he waited since he ultimately made his treatment decision.
The explanation Ashland gave Harrison was hardly anything traumatic.
Ashland just acted like the doctors were going to do everything they could to help him feel less “yucky.” For all Harrison knows, Ashland’s illness could amount to a common cold.
It was silly for Y&R to act like it’d be some soul-crushing moment for the kid when Ashland barely told Harrison anything at all.
However, that was likely part of the plan. Ashland isn’t completely heartless and didn’t want to hurt a young boy, so there’s no harm in what he told Harrison – especially since a fake miracle cure appears to be coming.
Of course, Ashland’s game is far meaner to Victoria, who’s falling hard for a man who seems to be telling lie after lie.
It was strange when Ashland just let Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) off the hook for the whole “sign the contract before I call 911” incident, which happened during his heart attack.
Perhaps Ashland only wants Victor to think he’s in the clear!
In reality, Ashland may be conning Victor’s own daughter and plotting to take Newman Enterprises for himself.
This merger could lay the groundwork for Ashland’s takeover and sweet revenge.
