The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers tease that Chelsea Lawson (Melissa Claire Egan) won’t be able to keep up her charade for much longer. Chelsea is already playing with fire by suddenly regaining her ability to speak.
Soon after Sharon Rosales’ (Sharon Case) visit, Chelsea pretended to find the strength to utter “Sharon knows.”
When Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) fills Rey Rosales (Jordi Vilasuso) in on April 12, Rey will indeed find the timing a bit suspicious. Since Sharon and Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) believe Chelsea set Adam up, Rey will have to consider this sudden somewhat miraculous recovery Chelsea’s making.
Although Chelsea is trying to play it cool and make it seem organic, she’s still rushing this and setting herself up to fail. As Adam pointed out, the best course of action is to just let Chelsea trip herself up.
That’s the right strategy when you’re dealing with a cocky con artist who thinks she’s smarter than everyone else.
The Young and the Restless spoilers say Chelsea will get caught eventually, so what’s going to happen to her?
Y&R writers have highlighted Chelsea’s psychological trauma due to her stroke – and Sharon tried to frame it as a situation where Chelsea snapped.
Adam has insisted that Chelsea needs help, so all of this dialogue seems significant. Adam could’ve been adamant about Chelsea landing behind bars, but he’s taking a softer view here and knows Chelsea may be unwell.
Sharon may be irritated with Chelsea over her actions, but she also knows mental help is needed.
Since Chelsea was so cavalier about poisoning Rey, the show’s making her seem unhinged and overconfident. Is mental help indeed on the way for Chelsea?
Now that we know Melissa Claire Egan is pregnant, we have to think about her eventual maternity leave and how Y&R will write her out – at least temporarily.
Will Chelsea’s lawyer cut a deal for her that involves time in a psychiatric facility? That might be the best Chelsea can hope for since she orchestrated a plot that involved poisoning an innocent detective.
Chelsea needs more than a slap on the wrist. She needs to be sent somewhere and put in the work to handle her problems with less drastic solutions.
Of course, it’s possible Chelsea could go on the run at some point or even land in the slammer. However, getting Chelsea mental help seems like it’d be exactly what she needs.
Perhaps in the end, Chelsea will head to a psychiatric facility and focus on sanity as well as ditching all the crazy plots.
