The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers tease that Chelsea Lawson’s (Melissa Claire Egan) hallucinations of Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) may get worse and leave her feeling haunted by her ex. Will Chelsea truly lose her mind while she’s locked up in that psychiatric hospital?
Y&R fans know Chelsea’s adamant that she hasn’t gone crazy and was only faking her mental breakdown. However, Chelsea’s behavior is certainly teetering on the edge of insanity.
Even putting the poison plot aside, Chelsea just hasn’t been herself lately.
Dr. Hedges (Michael Bofshever) is part of the plan Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) orchestrated, so Chelsea had no reason to put on a show with him. She was being genuine when she became panicky over Adam and feeling unsafe.
Viewers saw how paranoid Chelsea can be – and Chelsea had that unsettling vision of Adam as well.
Chelsea had a similar vision when she was still living at the penthouse. After Chelsea opened the door to leave, she got spooked when she saw Adam standing there instead of Chloe Mitchell (Elizabeth Hendrickson).
This is becoming a pattern and could tie in with the difficult road ahead for Chelsea.
These Adam hallucinations may worsen if Chelsea continues to believe she’s fine mentally.
Dr. Hedges has advised Chelsea to focus on healing from her trauma while she’s at this psychiatric hospital, but it’s hard to make someone get help when that person doesn’t feel she needs it.
Without truly addressing that trauma, Chelsea could be on the verge of a real mental breakdown. After all, Melissa Claire Egan’s going to need a maternity leave exit sooner or later.
It’s possible Chelsea will actually lose it and then be off screen for a while as she concentrates on doing the work to get better – for real this time!
